J D James used to run green coloured wagons came from Tregaron and I think that used to haul milk powder out of MMB FELINFACH and animal feed into the local CO -OP there was also Hugh James from Bronant they also had a few wagons and my father bought a 1967 LEYLAND Retrevier from them reg FEJ391F .This week there is a dispersal sale of JD THOMAS LLANARTH who are retiering I think it is on the 1st April
Ianto , once again thank you , but very sad news concerning Thomas from Llanarth , i can remember them having a Guy big J artic and i believe possibly the first in that area to have a F86 Volvo , and with their striking livery i would think will be sadly missed ! They did alot of milk powder work , and did they not do occasional work for Chetwynds doing hides and skins etc , regards Keith .
Hi Keith & Ianto,
Did read in the Commercial Motor about Thomas Llanarth sale. Always liked to see their wagons. I don’t know what is near the Police station, as its down on the estate next to Southern Avenue now. Always thought that James of Tregaron wagons worked some hard routes hauling fro places like Liverpool with animal feeds years ago.
Will have a look to see the building that you are referring to Keith.
Cheers Dave…
