I don’t know anymore about it Keith, and I can’t think of any of the older drivers still around that would. When I worked for C M Philpotts in 1963 as a 15 year old, he used it as a dumping ground for wrecks and smashed up vehicles. I remember going across the road from the Garage which is by the side of Turners entrance and told to go down the BRS yard to fetch whatever.
There might be a member whose Dad drove for BRS at Kington on here, but most of the older drivers have gone.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
Thanks for the info I’d been looking on the wrong side of the road I see what you
mean about access I’d have had to find a layby for the trailer if I’d had to bunker
in there, they must have only had rigid’s unless there was another way out/in.
thanks harry, long retired.

As a kid Harry, the only artic that I could remember in Kington in the early 1950’s, was a Bedford O type belonging to the Railway. Not many had six or eight wheelers until the 1960’s.
Cheers Dave.

Hi dave another nice pic ! That Scania reminds me of those ERFs ran by Wool producers from Brecon , are they still going ? regards Keith .

Hi. Dave & Keith.
Yep, Wool Producers of Wales are still going strong, but don’t have any lorries of their own now - all the transport is subbed out. This photo is our R480 carrying compacted wool bales from Bromyard wool depot to Wool Producers of Wales depot at Brecon. My Brother Nigel is driving. We have been working for W.P.W for about 50 years now - we are second generation hauliers!
The colour scheme on the Scania is just as we bought it at 7 months old, factory white with a blue bumper. It’s a coincidence that it looks like a W.P.W. lorry!
One of the last Wool Producers ERF’s was bought by a owner driver from down Llandovery way, and still hauls wool into the Brecon depot.
Our Scania replaced a blue Foden Alpha six wheeler which I believe is now owned by Trucknet member Dan Punchard.
If you google the Scania’s registration no: W50 RHM, you will find a great photo of it loaded with farmer’s wool packs, which is mostly what we do.
Regards,
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info. That’s a nice outfit. Does the bloke who runs the ERF also haul hay & straw, and is it a red G reg six wheeler.
Cheers Dave.

Thanks, Dave. I was wondering where my donations were going!
