Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

McWilliam:
Dave the Renegade I have never been to Wales or it’s Borders, I know nothing about the area. However your photos make it look so beautiful & very interesting - well done keep it up.

Thanks for the compliment McWillian. Its like a lot of other country area’s of the UK. Most of the photo’s are obviously taken on the better days by my good lady whilst I am driving. I am still looking for more older haulage photo’s from the area. We will keep posting as long as we can.
Cheers Dave.

Yes Trevor, I remember the firms from Buttington and Trewern near Welshpool. I remember John Swain timber lorries hauling out of Radnor Forest, and coming down through this village. I could just about keep up with them along the narrow road from the next village on my bike.
Cheers Dave.

He was from Trewern near Welshpool Trevor. He could be related to Swains of Stretton, who are still trading from Pontesbury area I think, also Steve Swain is from the same area as well.
Cheers Dave.

A familiar sight in this region - snapped at Prees Heath the other week

Do you know what he thinks of this truck Dave? I know they’re not made over here anymore but we might be looking into a nearly new 8wheeler, keeping my old 6wheeler for 6wheeler specific jobs.

That’s an old Komatsu in the background, I’d guess a PC120/5, got to be pushing 20 years old.

Usually busy Steve, unless Vosa are there, then the cafe owners suffer.
Cheers Dave.
