Thanks for the compliment McWillian. Its like a lot of other country area’s of the UK. Most of the photo’s are obviously taken on the better days by my good lady whilst I am driving. I am still looking for more older haulage photo’s from the area. We will keep posting as long as we can.

Hello Dave , lovely pictures , i can remember Tomlins having Fodens back in the 60s , and also there was a firm called Buttington rollng company from near Welshpool who had Fodens about the same time , based in the brickworks there . thank you Trevor.

Yes Trevor, I remember the firms from Buttington and Trewern near Welshpool. I remember John Swain timber lorries hauling out of Radnor Forest, and coming down through this village. I could just about keep up with them along the narrow road from the next village on my bike.

He was from Trewern near Welshpool Trevor. He could be related to Swains of Stretton, who are still trading from Pontesbury area I think, also Steve Swain is from the same area as well.
