Nice one Dave - is that CN11AVW?

Their simple yellow livery really suits the bigger modern cabs -

KTH Renault Premium by fryske, on Flickr

When did the firm start up and was the owner called Ken or is that an acronym or something?

Hi Steve,
Yes that is the same unit CN 11 AVW. Mac Smith had an older Renault Premium which was written off by another driver,he then drove a Daf unit that was on hire until the 11 reg arrived.
KTH stands for Ken’s Tipper Hire which was founded by Ken Preece in the early 70’s.Ken had driven for BRS and various other fims including Dorcliff Transport run by his father Cliff Preece based at Canon Pyon.
Ken sadly passed away suddenly in October 1997 he was only 54.Lee Preece his son and Karen his daughter-in-law have run the firm since Ken,they were already part of the business prior to his death along with Hazel his wife.
Ken Preece was a great bloke a larger than life character who is missed by all who knew him.
Cheers Dave.

Thanks for that Dave - I quite like this Renault of theirs too

Hi Stewart,

Cheers Dave.

Hi dave
KTH have had three renault kerax. One was WX05HKW with a muckshift body with a day cab. The other two are WX55BHZ and WX55BJE. These both came together with insulated bodies and sleeper cabs.
