funny thing dave but i’ve never missed driving since i finished in 2004 , but when i follow your thread i want to be back in the foden running down to brecon on a fine spring morning . in my opinion it is the most beautiful drive in the country . it would be a bit different now i suppose , once you are past the lazy trout there wouldn’t be much in the way of cafes or tea vans , get the flask out ! cheers , dave

Hi Dave,
There are a few tea vans, but no cafes suitable for wagons. A few do park at Morrisons at Leominster and go in their cafe which is excellent. There is a good tea van a Letton, just of the route by half a mile, also one at Felinfach and one on the industrial estate at Three ■■■■■. Also a few of the filling stations sell hot drinks and rolls etc, but no Transport Cafe since Winforton shut.
I noticed the Lazy Trout had shut again when I went pat a couple of weeks back.
Cheers Dave.

how are you Dave, I thought lazy trout would open again but not looking good. the car park is not best for trucks. went to Newark tractor show yesterday on coach from Leominster, in good company Mike George and mr Bayliss.

Hi Charlie,
I worked with Mike George many years ago, a good bloke. I know the Bayliss twins, but not as well as I know Mike. Phill and Perry Bayliss are a lot younger than me.
I think the bloke that owns the Lazy Trout had another go at running it himself, but it was closed when we went past there a couple of weeks ago.
It could do with someone like the previous owners Jean and Mick Farmer taking the place over and getting it back to being a good transport cafe.
Cheers Dave.

I was in the Trout early October and the food was sh*te! If that was their best, then its better off shut.
And yes, I did complain, but got a shrug of the shoulders.

I go past there quite often, and used to call in there about once a week and it was a great place, but then it changed hands and the food and standards went downhill. I haven’t been in there for about five years. I would love to see the place thriving again with some good food and plenty of people using the place, because it had a great atmosphere and was like going back in time.
Cheers Dave.
