Last bit of Old Radnor Hill being removed as the Gore quarry eats it away, seen off the A44 at Stanner, Radnorshire.

That’s quite an emotive photo, Dave. Sad to see the landscape changing so drastically, but it’s providing much-needed work and materials.

6,000 ton a day going out from the Gore the other week Casey. Artics from all over the UK loading out of there in addition to the regulars. Also a big tonnage goes out from Strinds/Dolyhir quarries where all the tarmac is made. Gore nowadays is just a stone and aggregates quarry.
Cheers Dave.

Harry it will last a few more years, but not to many at the rate they are pulling stone out from there in the last three months. There is obviously a
fair way to quarry down inside the hill, but once that has gone it will be like an empty dish and fill up with water.
John its got even more manic since you were last in there. It is taking a couple of hours to get in and get loaded and get back out on the road, due to the sheer number of artics loading out from there. The place has always been busy in the spring, but I and others have never seen it as busy as it is recently.
Cheers Dave.
