Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

MAGIC:
Hi Dave, managed to sort out putting photo’s on via photobucket (with the help of my son Gareth).

This is one of two taken I believe by Ron Weatherhall somewhere along the A470 on the way down to Ebbw Vale back in the early 1990’s.

Hi Keith,
Great pic, it looks like the Vulcan Arms area, just below Llanwrthwl on the A470.
Cheers Dave.

MAGIC:
This is another pic taken by Ron of E225WHF approaching the junction in Rhayader.

Good chip shop just behind your wagon Keith.Still a lot of wagons up and down through Rhayader, some from South Wales, and others toing and froing to the BSW Mill at Newbridge on Wye.
Cheers Dave.

I think Keith AKA Magic is from the Hereford area Trevor, so that Scania he drove for Williams Bros was probably a Madley Herefordshire wagon.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Trevor, yes we were based at Madley, near Hereford. Used to be Hereford Transport, then Williams Bros, then TDG. AW Trailers are based there now. Williams original depot was at Peterchurch, a few miles down the road. We used to haul for Bulmers, Proctor & Gamble, Levers, Co-op Creamery at Llangadog, Forest Fencing, etc, etc.

who was the north wales tanker i used to see with bethania across the front . he had several different units over the years the last one i saw being an erf ec . he used to get round buxton regular , probably backloading limestone dust . i think he carried powdered slate mainly .

Hi Dave,
These are from Llanon, Ceredigion, West Wales, always run smart ERF’s. These were taken at the Welsh truck show at Carmarthen a couple of years ago.
Cheers Dave.

A well worked Volvo FL10 from Churchstoke. I came through Churchstoke on Monday, with several lorries about there, but the sun was in the wrong place for pics according to my camera person.
This pic courtesy of Ron Weatherhall.

Hi Dave , wasnt there Dilwyn Powell from Churchstoke , had a Renault Magnam on woodchip ? regards Keith .

Yes he also had an FH on it Keith, he later worked for his brother Emlyn Powell from Knucklas near Knighton. Emlyn passed away three years ago, possibly more. I don’t know what happened to Dilwyn.
