In 1995 we went to the Hay on Wye book festival (not impressed). I took a few photos to make
up for the disappointment.
Hi David,
Great pics again. Gordon Lloyd is still around I think, the other from Leominster rings a bell. The book festival is now a very big event with a lot of famous people appearing. I’ve never gone to it. Have talked to Brian May the Queen guitarist driver at the snack van at Letton, who I think was a bit more than just a driver,by the cut of him and the polished look. I think he was his minder etc. A nice down to earth bloke who looked as if he could handle himself.
Cheers Dave.
You know the c&b transport one really we’ll dave, have a word with pat.
Hear’s a photo of Davidsons FM when in service they are very well looked after and always look well. Eddie

Something to do with his family I would think Andrew.
Cheers Dave.
Thanks for the history of the vehicle Eddie, its a small world,if it wasn’t for Trucknet and sharing pics and info, none of us would know anything about where a lot of these vehicles came from originally.
Cheers Dave.
Nae bother Dave. Eddie.

Possibly a wheelbarrow David. Nash Rocks owned Tonfanau quarry at one time.
Cheers Dave.
No, it was just that he was straddling a manhole that had them worried. They used to supply coated chippings
for us but I don’t remember them being around for long.

Hendre quarry was around and trading under that name for years David. Then they bought Tonfanau off Nash Rocks. Hendre quarry is run by Hanson’s these days. Tonfanau has been mothballed for years. Merfyn AKA jonmea will know more about it than I do, as its in his area.
Cheers Dave.
It was probably just that they didn’t supply us for long Dave that I only saw them for a short time. It was
unlike ARC (who I was on for) to buy stuff from outside quarries. The plant I was in had a go at making
their own chips but never made big amounts.
Coller & tie were obligatory for drivers in the 50’s ,even if you had to handball 8 Tons of sacks on & off!
