Thanks for that Dave,i did’nt realise FO was a radnorshire reg i thought it meant something else!ta,Pete

A couple more seen this afternoon in their yard Pete. Only about 3 miles from where I live. A family of dedicated lorry men. FO was the only number allocated to Radnorshire, which was last issued in Radnorshire in the early 1970’s.
Cheers Dave.

The last new car that I bought in 1998 with an FO plate, which was then issued in Hereford or even Gloucester.
Cheers Dave.

C W Griffiths oldest FM, which has done over a million K’s in 14 years driven by Richard Bullock from new. This vehicle has only just developed engine trouble, so they have had another engine fitted, because its been such a good lorry and the driver is a valued employee. They don’t normally keep them much over 5 to 6 years, but this one is the exception. They work out of the Gore and Strinds/Dolyhir quarries Pete and run about 15 eight wheeled Volvo FM’s.
Cheers Dave.

Still a regular sight on that road Keith. One of their older FH’s which we saw last week where one of Tracy’s Brother’s work.
Cheers Dave.
That motor is a credit to the driver and the operator,i wonder if the driver fancies having my daf for a couple of weeks, hopefully comes back as smart as that!!,ta,Pete

They are meticulous with their vehicles Pete. They have several long serving drivers and that particular driver is in his early 60’s, so that lorry is being kept on, as he likes it. I don’t think ( with respect ) that you will see a Daf in their yard for a long time. They did run a couple of CF six wheelers, a few years back. They recently sold their last Foden, and if Fodens were still being made they would be running some.
Cheers Dave.
Dont blame them for not running Dafs as i’m not very impressed with the one i got.Sometimes Dave i cant see wood for the trees,i’m sitting here thinking that CW Griffiths rings a bell, just clocked the pic of their bison on your profile! Saw that bison at onslow park[think thats where it was] and its a top notch restoration,is it a TL11 with a 9sp fuller by any chance? ta,pete

Here you are Pete. Yes you would have seen the Bison at Onslow park, its still owned by them, and operated by Clarence Griffiths Nephew Elwyn Griffiths, along with a Constructor with the same name and logo.
Cheers Dave.
leyland had got them bisons bang on with the tl11 and 9sp fuller, drove one for firm in rowley regis in 92/93 and it was doing muckshift and it was shown no mercy, only thing i seem to recall was broken front wheel studs but it was overloaded most of the time,ta,Pete

C W Griffiths had several Bison’s Pete, then moved onto Constructor’s. They served them well. Every vehicle thy have owned in the 60+ years since Clarence Griffiths started his business, the vehicles have always been well maintained.
Cheers Dave.

A couple from the Welsh Border, only the Severn Estuary divides us from there.

Hi Pete,
That would be Elwyn Griffiths a nephew for Clarence and cousin of Paul and Andrew. He runs the Bison and Constructor in the spring and autumn hauling lime. The rest of the year he works alongside his brother Jack in their motor repair garage. They have a collection of old heavy Army commercials.
Cheers Dave.
Ta,Dave nice place they got from what i remember garage at top past house,ta,Pete
