Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

Retired Old ■■■■:
If I went on a weekend I’d probably get myself killed. Best time is a summer weekday, before breakfast, after the dew has burned off.

The dew don’t burn off very early up there Casey.
Cheers Dave.

Soak it up with a loosely-held upside down sheep.

Another view of Paul Booth’s V8.

Nice Truck to say the least.

One would hesitate to resurrect old grudges, but my departed father, from Pontypridd, carried a lifelong chip on his shoulder about the English stealing the Welsh water and coal, then imposing the English law!
How Green Was My Valley could have been written specially for him, bless him.

hiya,
Ah’ yes, How Green Was My Valley, I was a young coalminer when my Mam
saw that film I’d not long left school actually Mother asked me to find a
different job that was 1951 and I could have got other work very easily in
those days I stuck it until age 18 then chucked it and got called up for my
National Service, she wasn’t very happy about that either doing all my
service in the Far East.
thanks harry, long retired.

The Stanley Baker character in BBC’s serialised version was the dead spit of my old chap, who was down the pit as a 14-year old air door lad. He came above ground when he was old enough to drive for a local greengrocer making collections and deliveries in a bull-nose Morris.
