Hi David,
They have packed up their general haulage fleet which had dropped down to just seven artics on the road and made six drivers and two out of the office redundant I think. Its a shame as most of them had been there years, but the haulage rates etc have dwindlen them down. They still have a Pallet Line fleet, plus their Marquee fleet which are used as and when.
They have been trading over a hundred years, its a shame.
Cheers Dave.

I just hope the driver found time to wash the unit before it was taken back to Renault!
Seriously, though, it’s sad to see one long-established firm after another biting the dust.

Some of the Burgoynes fleet which we have taken over the last few years.

They haven’t bitten the dust Casey, just packed up the haulage arm of their business.
Cheers Dave.

Sign of the times Dave, sad to say. It’s not nice for the ones that have been finished just before Christmas.
I have a lot of pictures but these were the ones I could find straight away.

Great pics David. The trouble for all the hauliers up this way is the fact, that we are forty miles off the nearest motorway link, and then its the M50.
The big logistic outfits have come in and taken a lot of the work at a lower rate, and then persuaded the manufacturers to relocate nearer to a motorway. Its a vicious circle, just like any other business.
As you know its happening with everything, unless you are a big fish, you can’t compete.
Cheers Dave.

A few more of Burgoynes artics which we won’t see again.

A few more of their fine fleet of varied motors.

And some more of Burgoynes.

That’s the last of the artic fleet.

pity about burgoynes dave , went in to their garage in the early 80s . tipping gear air pack croaked at cardiff , reloaded at onllwen and was told to call in at lyonsall , straight over a pit , and on my way again in 30 minutes . nice staff , they made me a brew while they fixed it up . cheers , dave

Would that have been Eardisley Dave ? As another branch of the Burgoyne family had a commercial vehicle repair garage there.
Cheers Dave.
