A LAD cabbed Leyland Comet artic with four in line trailer of R & B Transport, seen in the 1960’s.

Hi Dave , what a stunner ! Thats must be vincent Greenhaus Lyde .
That Comet would do quarry work by day and steel at night from Margham . Regards Keith

I was trying to work out where that was Keith. As you say it must be Lyde, but I couldn’t think what a Leyland would be doing there. Vincent Greenhouse were Bedford dealers. Were they also Leyland dealers ? I have been there enough of times, but forget.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave , not really sure that they were Leyland dealers as well . Back in those in the Hereford area for Leyland , and AEC it was Carmichael at Worcester or Watts down at Lydney . regards Keith

I think I can confirm that Vincent Greenhous only did Bedfords at Lyde. They were the local Vauxhall dealers, too, but I’m blowed if I can remember where the car showroom was. Their main Bedford depot was in Shrewsbury where, in the dim and distant past they built bodies- platform and livestock- for other makes besides Bedfords.

Their car showroom and workshop was in Blackfriar Street at the back of the old cattle market in Hereford Casey. I bought a new Vauxhall Cavalier 2 litre mk3 off them in 1989.
Cheers Dave.

The only connection I can see is,that Bedford used to fit Leyland engines in some of TKs,the vehicle may of been there to have something done to its engine? The Bedford TK that Tom Henderson used to use to tow his low loader/ steam engine (Pride of Wye)had a Leyland 400 engine in it.
Regards Jack.

Hi Jack,
Jack Jones of Unicorn Transport from Weobley, ran a Bedford TK with a Leyland engine in it.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave , Unicorn Transport had a Guy 6 wheeler on Woodcemer work at Pembridge . regards Keith
