Not sure if this is a unit altered or a ballast tractor.Don’t know what it is Dave, got to be something to do with Eric Vick.
hiya,
Unlikely to be a purpose built ballast tractor, the ballast tractors were usually
double drive I’ve never come across one with the middle axle being steerable
and only single wheels, would be poor for dragging weight.
thanks harry, long retired.Hi John & Harry,
It does look the same livery as Eric Vick’s so it probably is,or was one of his.
Cheers Dave.
Hello Gents,
This most certainly was one of Erik Vick’s motor’s, spent the majority of its life running across europe and into North Africa. Originaly fitted with a Gardner it was much later fitted with a Perkins Tx, not sure wether it had the Big 6LYT 15.5litre lump or the smaller 6LXDT as he ran both. Being an F plate i’d say it was the later because i dont many LYT’s were registered that late, the last ones being fitted in E reg trucks.
Regards Chris.
hiya,
I’ll lay Lincoln odds the oil isn’t coming from the power steering Dave.
thanks harry, long retired.
Probably coming from the lubrication union on one of the turbochargers

hiya,
Could possibly be suffering AECitis or the dreaded fractured “injector pipe
needing renewing syndrome” for the want of another name.
thanks harry, long retired.
Great photos Dave may see you at Malvern if weather looks promising .
