Sad news of another former lorry driver passing away ! Lew Jones who drove for Unicorn Transport from Weobley,Herefordshie, and later for P&O firm Coastal Roadways passed away this morning aged 70.
Lew had a bad accident several years ago whilst driving an artic for Coastal Roadways at Morville,Bridgenorth.Lew lost his foot in the accident, but didn’t change from his cheerful self.He then worked until a couple of years ago at The Portland Garage Weobley.
Lew battled with a serous lung condition for the last few years, but will be remembered as a real Character.Condolence’s to his wife Carol and his family RIP Lew.

Passing away aged 70, Dave is no age. It makes you wonder if working after retirement is worth it. My Dad retires next May and can’t wait. His older brother who worked with us on Smiths retired a few months early due to ill health and now looks fitter 7 years on. Their Dad died aged 73 and still worked part time, yet there are a few lorry drivers out there now well past that age.

It was a bit different with Lew Jones,he had a hereditary lung condition which his mother also passed away from.
Lew was a fantastic bloke who was a real happy go lucky charactor, his Dad was killed in Dolyhir Quarry when Lew was young, then he had his accident abot 30 years ago,but continued working with an artificial lower leg as a mechanic and finally in the office of a local garage.A great bloke who will be sadly missed.
Cheers Dave.
