Waiting for another bucketful.
Courtesy of Phill Preece. That wont take many bucketfulls, judging from the size of that Volvos’ counterweight. I’d guess an L180 or L200…
Hi Nathan,
My next door neighbour drives a loading shovel, and he say three bucketfuls are enough to load an artic, depending on the the type of stone etc.
Cheers Dave…
Depending on what it is I get 3 and a half-ish on mine, but my payload is just over 30 tonne, think it also depends on the shovel driver, some seem to get more around the trailer than on it.

I would think Phill’s outfit has a higher tare than yours John.
Cheers Dave.
An offside pic of Phill’s motor.
On the rolling road.
Side view of Phill’s Kel Berg trailer which I think has now been replaced.
John Blue Eyes Middleton seen on a dual carriageway, not sure where, but its not the A49 at Harewood End as I stated about the first Gammonds artic in a previous post.

Now I know where I went wrong, John; I never bent or buried a diesel tank or piled it up the front.
A view from the cab, courtesy of Terry Tomek Bird.
An older Scania that Terry Tomek Bird drove for Mike Morgan.
Another from Phill’s yard.
Not a bad mpg reading for a 620bhp Scania running at 44 ton gross.
DAve,
Thanks for the A.E.Jones photos- good to see that they’re still hauling. Does Norman remember the 8-wheeler Foden or is he too young?

Norman was probably driving it Casey.I remember about 8 of their livestock wagons coming up to Knighton market on a Thursday in the 1960’s,ranging from 4 to 8 wheelers.
Cheers Dave.
