Automobile Palace, that’s the one, cheers, Dave! It was an Austin 3-Litre, he got it second hand which was unsual because he always got new company cars. I think this one had belonged to a big cheese at the firm he worked for, hence it not being new when he had it. It was a hell of a car, we felt like royalty in it after the (very) early Maxi 1500 he had before it!
Funnily enough I have this pic of a 3 litre (?) taken at one of the Griffiths family’s yards!
Nice one Steve. Its amazing what Elwyn and Jack have tucked away.
But would the one Bill’s Dad had have been the Westminster type.
Cheers Dave.

Wow, cheers Fryske! That’s a 3-litre alright, they shared doors with the Maxi and the Land Crab (Austin 1800/2200 family) by the way. Another hopeless piece of trivia for you there! Thanks for the picture and sorry Dave for going o/t again!

The bloke that owns that Volvo (Geoff Newsome) is the host of the annual truck/machinery weekend at Kelsall, near Chester, Dave. It’s a good weekend, sadly this year the weather was so bad the second day was cancelled.
Dave the Renegade:
One that Trev H might know, seen on the A44 at Monkland,Leominster.
Hello Dave, H Nickolls, Milford Common, right on the edge of Cannock Chase, nr Stafford. Lovelly people, used to have a massive model railway layout in a shed, (a big shed), at the entrance to their yard. Long established, always tidy kit, mainly rigids. Think they had an F86 off me years ago,…cannot remember, but as I say, nice people.
The Automobile Palace, my late friend Frank Watkins, from St Asaph, started his career working for them from LLandudno. The one in Llandrindrod is well worth seeing, just for the architecture. (as is the old Rootes Garage in Maidstone, (if it still stands), another building from the great age of motoring. Cheerio for now

Have you seen GBE Chester Engineering’s old place recently, Barry? Got knocked down a few years back (after Lookers took over) and now it’s just another soul-less dump of poxy shoebox apartments. Most of which are probably empty by the way, as there’s far too many round here and who’s got £130,000 for a ■■■■■ little one bedroomed box? Rant over, as you were!
