Dave the Renegade:

I didn’t get a close look to see what the engine was.

I stand to be corrected here Dave, so don’t take this as gospel but I think that’s a Perkins, probably a gen set and probably from the Shrewsbury factory.
There’s a fighting chance the Renault (Dodge) itself is running a Perkins lump too.

If I’m wrong don’t shoot me please, and keep up the great work with this thread!

Cavlad I expect you are right. It looks like a Generator engine and as you say probably from the old Sentinel works.

Dave the Renegade:

An S type Bedford with some decent mirrors on it.They only had little round things originally.

Lamphreys’ were from Banbury, Dave; Their old offices are now an estate agent but as the building’s listed, it’s still got “Coal, Corn, Lime etc etc” painted on the walls. They had a quarry just up the road from Smiths at Enslow, near the railway bridge.

We saw this one at Jacks Hill cafe gathering last month.Seen here at Gaydon.

hiya,
Never mind dropping the Vabis bit they even had the audacity to retain
the Scania part of it, these and the Volvo 86 were a disgrace, if they
hadn’t moved along quite quickly to the 110 (Scania) and the 88 (Volvo)
we might still have had a British heavy vehicle industry.
thanks harry, long retired.

Here’s an F88 for you Harry, looks as if it was modified into a wrecker.

hiya,
Dave I’ve driven one as ancient as this fantastic motor only trouble
was the air wipers which used to fall apart on a regular basis, that
was the only complaint,
