A Sed Atki next to a Foden at the site.

A collection of various stuff.

richgriff:
The second is an Atkinson,150 Gardner,Dai Brown and Kirkstall. The cab looks a bit oversized to me and maybe should have a MK 1. Hope some one can sort that out.She was an ex-sainsbury unit it has PAS and autolube. The atki past to the circus world and there is a big winch behind the back axle to pull the big top up.

It’s a Mk.2 Silver Knight, and one of several of these that made it onto the fairground:

A bold statement John, but also I think very true, as you say its very unlikely even a small percentage of those trucks will be restored where they are,[not having a go at the owner at all, but we all have an idea of the cost/time invloved to do just one]

Like you say, if they are left the condition is only going one way. At the end of the day its his property though and if he gets his enjoyment at the moment just owning them then far be it from me to knock him for it.

Thanks for the feedback 240.Cheers for the flickr link, excellent stuff.Regards Rich.

Don’t jump to conclusions chaps.Nobody knows what he intends doing with them, several have tried to buy diffferent lorries off him.He doesn’t need the notes,he’s got a good job and is a commercial vehicle mechanic. He keeps his cards close to his chest.I would think they were bought mainly for spares when he did a lot of spannering on site.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave.

Do you (or Ivor) have access to any old pics of the aforementioned Foden S36 ?

I never knew that Tarmac contractors could use Tarmac’s khaki colour scheme and have their name on the door - unless they had the old Tarmac logo and lettering present as well.

Either way, would be good to see any old pics Ivor has.

Hi Bonkey,
Don’t know Ivor Owen, think he is no longer around, think his family run the business. They are in North Wales, not my neck of the woods. Tarmac never had any quarries this way in the days of the khaki colours. They have only run under that banner this way after Anglo American bought out these quarries, along with the rest 15 to 20 years ago.
Hammer would know more about Ivor Owen I would think.
Cheers Dave.

Hi, i am new to this site and i am just getting used to it. i have come accross your post, both mentioning Ivor Owens and Minera quarry. I am infact Mickey Owen’s son, and I am looking for information / pictures of the old boys that used to work in the quarry, including pictures of the trucks. can you help me in any way?? my email is bendoon86@yahoo.co.uk oh, Ivor Owen & sons are still trading aswell.

We will go back when the nettles have died down and the leaves are off the tree’s Andrew.I can’t say where it is,as I promised the owner not to.Also he gave us permission to go back for more pics again.
Cheers Dave
