Hi Merfyn,
Its always interesting to know where these lorries come form, and what type of work they do.Haven’t come to your Scania yet.Tracy took two pics of it,have uploaded them, just working my way through them.
Cheers Dave.

I thought you might have grown to like them Harry.Apparently not,you have as low an opinion of them as I had of the LAD cabbed Dodge Kew :smiling_imp:  .
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave from experience they was only suitable as a rigid six wheeler maximum had,nt enough poke even to turn them into an
eight legger and as for pulling a drag OK if hauling glider engines the guy who said they could run at 32 ton should have been sentenced to a lifetime behind the wheel of one, now the 110 there was a motor i’ve driven one of them as well but sadly only for one job should have super glued myself to the seat while i was in that one, proper motor ah well.
thanks harry long retired.

Sounds as if they were like a lot of lorries at that time Harry, not man enough for the job.A lot of lorry builders tried to run at the higher weights with small motors, with very little success.
Cheers Dave.

A ■■■■■■■■ Scania,next to another 143.

A 143 with a 580 badge, don’t know if that is original or not.

hiya,
Yes Dave another pile of rubbish of that era “i’ll get some stick for this” was the F86 only suitable as a six wheeler rigid as a 32 tonner no way, drove them for a bit both artics and a six wheeled tipper the latter was i guess OK but at 32 tons the artic was crap and it was a newish motor i could happily put a match to one of those as well, now then i’m going to give Webby a ring and see if he’ll loan me his tin hat.
thanks harry long retired.

There were quite a few driving F86’s for Entress that lived in this area Harry.I think it was only the fact that you could sleep in them without putting a board from the engine to the window, that made them more popular than the Atki’s etc. They only had a small engine and didn’t have the bottom end power of a lot of the British heavy tractor units.
Cheers Dave.

Tha can borrow it with pleasure Harry. I never drove an F86 but had plenty of lifts in 'em,nice and warm and comfy but not much poke.LPG Transport ran some artics out of Orgreave Sheffield on tar products and the drivers said they were hard work.If they were harder work than Scania 81s,heaven help the poor jockeys.

A nice little curtainsider.
