Another of the many Foden’s that Dave Neville ran over the years.

Have they packed up now Dave? I’m sure I used to see those “aggregate supplies” wagons about when I started driving. That Foden looked a nice wagon. I’d have one of those tomorrow as a regular wagon.

Dave Neville sold his fleet to Ken’s Tipper Hire Ltd ( KTH ) about five years ago,he continued running a couple of rigid curtainsider’s on spuds, but sold those a couple of years ago.Dave now just runs Mercedes Vaneo on private hire to airports etc.A much better job than operating a fleet of lorries.

No steptoe,it wasn’t new to them.I think the body was new,it replaced a Foden six wheeler which they ran.
Cheers Dave.

John,
Yes John, Dave Neville always ran good kit.I remember overtaking a couple of his Foden artics going up Crickley Hill in an old petrol engined transit which I had.I was on my way to London and didn’t go over 55 mph because of fuel consumption, when I was going down the A417 towards Cirencester, they absolutely flew past me,pre speed limiter days
.
Cheers Dave.

I might be wrong but I think that 86 belonged to an owner driver from Grimsby called Mally LLoyd, it was blue when he had it.

You could be right steptoe.I will ask David Edwards when I next speak to him.
Cheers Dave.

Is that a large towing eye sticking out of the front of the Constructor mixer Dave? Readymix used to get mixers up from your neck of the woods when Kidlington were busy and a couple of Constructors came up a few times; they had those “noses”.

I bet that was fun to drive with a full load on; 160 at 17ton plus powering the pto Smiths Concrete have got 360s in their 8wheel Dafs and they’re complete crap when fully loaded-and they’re thirsty.

Hi Nathan,
160 bhp in a four wheeler was powerful in it’s day, when I drove four wheelers, most were 100 to 140 bhp.
The artics only had 150 Gardner engines until the late 60’s.
Cheers Dave.
