if ever a new main trunk road was needed to be built, it would be that one.i used to feel so sorry for the residents having to tolerate all that south/north wales heavy traffic.

As you probably know it’s running from just below Builth Road to Newbridge On Wye,nearly 4 miles in total,the only bad stretch left between Builth Wells and Rhayader after that,will be from the mothballed Rhayader quarry to Rhayader.

Gore quarry O/D Martin Morgan in his Scania eight legger,seen on the A44 at Floodgates,Kington.
I am unable to see the image Dave, just a red X, but is this the guy who used to have a black Foden eight legger with a bl**dy great engine in it and used to go like hell back in the 90’s when we were down at Gore running to the M5 widening? I thought that his name was Morgan?

Martin did have a Foden on an F plate which was a dark colour,it had a 325 ■■■■■■■ in it,and yes he didn’t hang around. That lorry was one of two that were stolen on separate nights from the Gore.Th other one that got pinched was Bill McQueen’s eight legger Foden,also on an F plate with a 300 Rolls/Perkins eagle 300 engine,neither were seen again.

What year would those thefts have been Dave? Dad had a G reg Foden with 300 Cat nicked around '92;suspiciously only a few days after it’d been uprated to 32t.

Can’t remember exactly Nathan,but Bill worked in the Quarry for a few months until his new replacement lorry came,and that was another Foden on a M plate,so possibly around the same year as your Dad had his stolen.
