Muckaway:
My late uncle Pete “Puggy” Bowers drove one for Sands and Gravels he reckoned the petrol engined version was great for off-road work. He used to get a lot of farm and water board work with it.
My Dad drove a couple ofl petrol engined Bedfords in the 50’s Nathan, same as your uncle,he reckoned they were better for farm deliveries,as he delivered animal feed stuff. The farms in those days didn’t have a proper road, only a track,or even across a field to them.
Cheers Dave.

He used to live just across the valley from me Dave.He drove for Roberts of Knighton as a young lad,he runs about sixty lorries, but there is a rumour that he is selling up.Hardly surprising in the current climate.
Cheers Dave.
Plenty more of M A Evans to come.
One of Harold Read’s ERF’s,seen at his Longhope yard in the Forest of Dean,a few miles from the Welsh Border at Monmouth.
This is a shot of a Tarmac Roadstone gang laying an experimental surface in the Bewick depot at Milnthorpe.I don’t know exactly what was in it but we only payed for labour and Tarmac came periodically to check on its condition.
