I don’t think there will be a tourist board left Robert, they are closing all the information centres due to local government lack of funding .
Cheers Dave.

Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Dave i’m not into politics but what i see is a crumbling country which is due in my opinion to government blunders, they (all parties) have sold off all the “family silver” and now the only revenue earners are the motorists/haulies and the working classes, the wealthy fiddle their way out of paying what they should by salting their brass away in safe money making hideouts, now it looks like they’re going to knock the tourist industry which must bring more than a few bob in VAT, take a look at some of their mistakes in my area, of profit making nationalised outfits, British Steel Consett ,full order book and in the black closed down and demolished thousands out of work and on benifits for the rest of their working lives, BRS loads of work so long as the steel was comeing out making a profit and subbying work out to other hauliers and O/Ds and the knock-on effect of these closures was horrendous and thats just a fraction of the ■■■■■ the governments past and present have presented us with in this area alone, the pubs and clubs are doing nothing due to the high cost of booze at the pumps people choosing to buy from cut price shops and drinking at home, cigarettes was another big revenue earner only females of the species can afford to smoke now and they are buying under the counter ■■■■ from the corner shop, “say no more” not a smoker myself but if people want to puff away in the pub they should be free to do so and maybe we would see our hostelries still thriving and not boarding the windows up.i feel better for that Dave you can have your soapbox back now, nowt to do with tippers mate sorry but you’ll soon bury my drivel under your good stuff.
thanks harry long retired.

Agree with everything you say Harry.I haven’t got any faith in any of the politicians whatever party,as far as I’m concerned they all ■■■■ in the same pot. Some of the old politicians cared about people, not these modern lot, they are just money grabbing career politicians,in it for their own gain. It’s not just the tourist Information centres,it’s libraries, day centre’s for the elderly, nursery schools, they are all under threat with these cut backs. One of my Brother in Laws is being made redundant in April,he has been with the environment agency/national river authority/water board as a civil engineer on sea defence and flooding and drainage schemes for thirty years. He is in the same department only the organisation name has changed over the years. My niece graduated from university with a first class honours degree 18 months ago,she has been working as a classroom assistant until she gets a place in teacher training college, now she’s been made redundant.
This country is knackered,as you say they sold off all the utilities, now they want to sell off Royal Mail and the Forestry Commission, next it will be the BBC which makes a lot of money selling programs all over the world.
Every time I go a few miles another shop or pub is closed. We have been to Telford today, the Travellers Rest just above Craven Arms is shut and up for sale.We used to have three Post Offices, eight small shops and three fuel stations in this valley, now they are all gone,we have more houses, but no amenities.
I think we have had the best times Harry.
Cheers Dave.
