Our 08 MAN has impressed, as had the Volvo FM (but probs with the FEs has ruled Volvo out now even though they’re Renaults with different badges) but no more have been ordered; like I’ve said before, I’d give an Axor a go or maybe the Volvo FMX; Re. Daf, I think they need a replacement for the Leyland, sorry, CF
Saw some Tarmac wagons up our way today Dave; they’re about a lot recently; One I saw said “Calvin ?” on sunvisor (Volvo FM), ring any bells with you?
Other way round - Renault cab on a Volvo

Hello Dave ,another M A Evans this was shot around 1990 on the A470 between Builth and Rhayader .
Hi Chepstowchap,
A great pic that one, possibly atkidave’s Dad driving the 142,altough if it was 1970 he would still be at Roberts. He will put me right about that.
Cheers Dave.

Is the chassis Volvo then? We were under the impression the only things Volvo are the badges…
You wouldn’t know why you can only get the 7litre engine in the FE, whereas I’ve read Renault can get a 10 in it?
Volvo FL7 Bulk Blower, seen on the A49 Leominster bypass.

I think the feed lorries like finnly drives are busy supplying feed to chicken farm sites which are on the increase this way Nathan. The local quarries have been fairly busy this last week, but the rates are crap.
Cheers Dave.

Cemex are getting a right joke for supplying material Dave; Wickwar can’t keep up/keep breaking down and when our trucks go to Wick (which is in the process of closing) drivers are having to wait for their loads to be blasted and then crushed (as dad has discovered this week).

It’s all stone or tarmac this way Nathan, they don’t have to wait long when it’s busy, just the fact that they aren’t getting paid enough to do the job.
Cheers Dave.
Les Sutton with M A Evans Scania, seen on the A49 Leominster bypass. Les also drove M A Evans Guy Big J with the 8LXB.Les has been with M A Evans over forty years.

Hi Dave, yes he would have still been at Roberts’ in 1990. Brian kitchen had that 142 until he left around 1993, then dad had it. Duncan would probably know who was in the other one.

They are the same truck - badge engineering - We fit the 7 litre Deutz engine in the Premium the same as in the FE -our next engine is 11litre - all the axles, electrics, suspension etc are Volvo
