Donning my flak jacket, I’d say MANs are amongst the best muckshifting 8 leggers; to quote our workshop manager “You don’t need the pit, you can walk under 'em”

They don’t seem to have taken off in our area Nathan,it’s strange,as Richard Read in the Forest of Dean is an agent for them.Pursy who is a member on here has one,or two.I think he rates them,it’s the same with Mercedes Ivor Duggan is very please with his new Axor, but nobody much is buying any tippers this way at the moment, hardly surprising.
Cheers Dave.

Our 08 MAN has impressed, as had the Volvo FM (but probs with the FEs has ruled Volvo out now even though they’re Renaults with different badges) but no more have been ordered; like I’ve said before, I’d give an Axor a go or maybe the Volvo FMX; Re. Daf, I think they need a replacement for the Leyland, sorry, CF
Saw some Tarmac wagons up our way today Dave; they’re about a lot recently; One I saw said “Calvin ?” on sunvisor (Volvo FM), ring any bells with you?

Was the petrol engine Bedford used the same as Vauxhall put in the Cresta and Velox? Dennis.

300 cu inch wasn’t it?
Not sure what other uses it had.

I think the Bedford/Vauxhall 6cyl petrol was a standard unit and was de-tuned for the commercials, but someone will no doubt put me straight! Bewick.

300 cu petrol six cylinder engine in this one, sounds good too, haven’t had a camera when I have seen them delivering gas to the snack van at Letton.

300 cu inch would be about 4.8litre a bit too big for a Vauxhall cresta, think they was 2.6ltr, later ones 3.3ltr. They all had a bloody great solex carb on the top and drank fuel at an alarming rate. I had a Vauxhall viscount once and it used £10 off petrol a week, at the time you could get 3 gallon (13.6 ltrs you young uns !) for a £1. Good job we still had a couple of petrol motors to subsidise it.
We had one of those big 6 cylinder petrols in a Bedford J type but it got swapped for a TK 330 engine and box.
