Welsh Border and Mid Wales Hauliers 1950's onwards

One f the South Wales artics heading back, seen on the A438 between Llowes and Glasbury,Radnorshire.

Lewis and Logan resurfaced the top of our yard and they usually have tarmac from Radnorshire. The tarmac is of a superior quality. Not sure if they would undertake a one off for the council. They have a four wheel Leyland with a demountable tipper body to also carry a Barber Green. If you want a proper firm to do any tarmac jobs these boys are class. If you want quality word of mouth is the best. :wink:John Chamberlain hauled tarmac to our yard,he said that Lewis and Logan were a quality outfit.THe best way to kill the Paddy factor is to tell them that you have two tippers hauling out of a local quarry and we can get tarmac when we want it .TTFO.told to fo.

Dave the Renegade:

Muckaway:
“We are workin’ in de area for da Cunsil, an we got tenty tun left over would you loyke yer dwivewee done for just £230000? We drive ya to de cashpoint too!”

Nah I think you are wrog Nathan,my guess is that it’s a firm from Crickhowell called Lewis & Logan who have a good reputation over many years.I will check with a mate of mine to see if they have an ex Tarmac Daf six wheeler.
Cheers Dave.

Cheers Dave.

I had some pull the battery leads off the lorry years ago, when the bloke they were laying the tarmac for came and bollocked them, they scarpered while I was looking around the lorry to see why it wouldn’t start. Only found out what they had done after they had gone.Every driver was told to collect the money after before you took the sheet off, otherwise you took the load back.Plus you had ten bob for collecting the money off them off the quarry, also a couple of quid off the ■■■■■■ if you helped to lay it,after telling them the quarry needed you back in a hurry.Ok for the driver but no good for your boss.
Cheers Dave.

When I see ■■■■■■ in our pit I’m not sure whether to feel sorry that somebody’s going to get ripped off, or that it’ll serve them right for using the dirty sods in the first place…

I think you are right there Nathan, there are plenty of reputable firms about, but people are greedy, they think these gits are cheap and fall for their blarney, they deserve what they get. Most of the people who have them are cheapskates, only one’s I feel sorry for are the old people who get taken in by them.
Cheers Dave.
