Got delayed on one of my deliveries today.Unusual for me as don"t do Rdc deliveries ,its building/landscaping supplies, crane offload.
I was about to drop some slabs off at a house that was opposite a cemetery.
Set the legs out,got on the crane and a hearse pulls up bang opposite me ,basically nothing could pass either way.
To cut a short story long,i moved the lorry down the road and waited for about 30 mins, then went back and unloaded.
Am i obliged to do this?( i was there first) seemed like the right thing to do.
Not sure if you are obligated as such but I would definitely have done the same thing, out of respect if nothing else. I wouldn’t fancy an argument with a grieving family!
I’d say you were spot on.
Your not obliged as such but you know that everyone would blame you for blocking the road !
You did the courteous thing even if hearse driver was being awkward!
Well done mate. That was the best call all round.
+1.
Mature, respectful and professional.
I can only echo what everyone else has said, you’re not obliged to move but it was the right thing to do in the circumstances.
You shame the driving community. You should have said " you’ll have to wait I’m on. Break’
its not like he was in a rush was it?
should have unloaded!
no you done the right thing really well done.
We doff our cap to you sir, well done , respectful and professional, you did right.
.
Lets face it , they`ll be a long time coming back with their return load.
I remember a wagon driver blocked both lanes of a roundabout to let the hearse carrying my dad though. Was told by another driver to always let a funeral motorcade through.
Good grief youl be slowing for horses next whilst knocking her up a gear or two to whisper past.
Well done though, right thing to do.
Funny how death puts life in perspective.
[That’s deep even for me]
Missed a chance there. Should have offered to use the crane to offload-saved them having to carry it in! If it was a burial could have got it straight in the hole
I dunno, you were tipping first…
But no you did the right thing.
Oh, one of my pet hates… they pull up next to you in their puddle jumper, expecting to go first, because “I only have one to tip” …
Although I concede that this delivery deserved some consideration.

Artic driver did the same thing for the hearse carrying my grandfather as well. We’d probably still be sitting there now if he hadnt!

Fair play tho think we all would have done the same top man.

I’ve done that a few times. Respect for the mourners, they are all together and should arrive at the same time.
