Yesterday (Thurs) I left Glens Falls NY at 4.00am for New Haven CT, it was BRRRRRRRRRRRR cold, I hit the sleeper at my destination because I had tow hours before my due time, it had risen above freezing very rare for January or Febuary, I actually turned the engine and heater off. Last night as I crossed Pico Mountain VT it was a stunning 62f (usually -10f this time of year), in Providence RI at 10.00am today it was 68f two hours later on the Masspike at Springfield MA it had dropped to 34f, 30 miles further along I ran into a blizzard on Blandford mountain, back here it is 17f outside
Since last Monday ( Jan 3rd ) until yesterday ( Jan 13th ) we have had no rain or snow. We have had temps in the 70’s everyday with nightime temps in the low 60’s.
Now a cold front has blasted through, we have daytime highs forecast in the 40’s and 50’s with nightimes in the 30’s
I certainly picked the right 10 days to have off
As for the Carlisle and other adverse UK weather conditions, along with the terrible mudslides in CA, major flooding in the Arizona Desert with more flooding in other areas, it certainly seems to be more than a coincidence
Last week temps in the 70’s as I’ve already mentioned. This week until yesterday temps in the 30’s & 40’s daytime, low 20’s at night…until yesterday, which were temps in the 70’s, last nights lows until 6 am were in the 60’s around 6 am they dropped to 38 bringing in heavy fog, around 2 pm fog clears, sun comes out and the temps are back up to mid 60’s for about an hour! then along cames galeforce type winds and clouds the temp drops back down to 36 degrees!
Now if going from the 30’s to the 60’s and back to then 30’s in less than 2 hours ain’t weird weather then I dunno what weird weather is then.
Just don’t send it to Raleigh NC, they had 1/2 inch( yes thats right!, a half a bloody inch!) of snow during the day on Wedensday, resulting in over 1,000 RTA’s, 3,000 kids and their teachers stranded at school overnight, most business’s closing whilst the population panicked and collectively tried to get home from their places of employment all at the same time cuz no-one wanted to be stranded at work for the rest of the winter ( it was in the high 50’s the next day ) I have to confess I PMSFL!
Guess what it got here
Yesterday at about 2.00pm we started getting hit with blizzard conditions, it is now 8.00am Sunday and is letting up a bit, both the car and Jeep are buried, looks like I have some digging to do today
I started digging and my mate drove up with his new F250 and plough, he showed it off by clearing my whole driveway
Last night I set out for northern MA via Vermont, the roads were well salted untill I got to the NY / VT line, VT don’t believe in road salt because it spoils the scenic looks for tourism, I drove for 70 miles up over Killingoton in snow, going down the other side I just had the engine brake on to slow me, if I’d hit the brakes I would have folded. When I got to my destination they had gotten 4 feet of snow
I like the soggy socks the best!..especially when they are halfway off your feet when you take the wellies off, I like it when soggy socks make your feet go red and numb too
i like it when i have to stand in the cold and wait for my train to arrive for an hour and fifteen because it got stuck on a hill. even better, the platform is all mush with nowhere to sit. and oh how happy i was to be sporting a pair of soggy socks.
Allikat,35C-thats C not F at the moment and expecting 37 + C tommorow(Over 100 F).
Only ice I’ll be seeing is from the freezer!
Hopefully this T shirt and shorts weather will only last for a few more months

WOAH!!! I caught the ice houses on the news I didn’t see where abouts in America it was but the waves had crashed against the coast spraying the houses and the spray had frozen as it fell, the houses were just covered in ice.
