Hi, has anybody been charged with a weight limit offense?? Is it just a fine or points and a fine??
I’m not sure if there is a weight limit when using A3 in London crossing over bridge into city (from elephant and Castle towards A13 tilbury)
If anyone knows about this area then please let me know…
There is no weight limit over that bridge. (London Bridge)
I got caught a few months ago in doncaster, £50 fine with no points, but I don’t know if it changes from county to county.

Is there a limit as you cross over the bridge and turn right??
So it sounds like just a fine if you were to get done…

What time did you cross said bridge, and do your employers have the London borough permits etc? During daytime you should be okay as it’s a primary route.

It was day and I work for a large logistics company…so I would assume they do
Loads of limits.
Over 18 ton you must turn first left into Arthur street and loop back to the A3211 Lower Thames Street. There is a sign just after you cross the bridge
Over 7.5 ton and not requiring access you must turn first left. Don’t know where this sign is but here is the City of London 7.5T MGW Area Ban web page
http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/transport-and-streets/roads-highways-and-pavements/Pages/Weight-limits.aspx
… operate a 7.5 tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight limit over the central area of the City of London. Vehicles requiring access to premises within the ban zone to load or unload are exempted from the restriction.
The extent of the ban is shown in blue in the map A (640kb) the roads forming the boundary to the zone are not included in the ban.
The map seems to show that Arthur Street is OK. King William Street (the north end of the bridge) … your guess is as good as mine
To add to the fun Arthur Street is currently closed at the weekends due to some road works (It may or may not be closed during the week as well)
I was 18t, delivering and traveling southwards so could not say for sure.

I went over London bridge but could not do that loop back down onto Lower Thames Street, road closed. So I went straight and did a right to get me into lower Thames Street. I was in an artic. …
But if that Arthur street is closed then really I had no choice…unless someone could tell me otherwise…

so if all the above is correct then that means I’m getting a fine…
wildfire:
yeah just a fine and no points, got done in Melksham just after they changed the limit about 2 years ago

Is that to Calne otherwise can’t see why you’d want to go into the town would take longer usually I’d think?
It depends on who ends up “Doing” you for the Offence.
If the police deal with it - Fixed Penalty including points and fine, option to go to Magistrates court.
If the council deal with it - Fine, they could also refer to trading standards for bigger fine to be passed to the company

So it’s just a waiting game then really…how long does it take for these things to come thru…
Anybody know the time frame for this to come thru■■?
My mate got done in London, near the Oval, I think the fine was £350, all I know is he paid £100 and work offered to pay the rest.

That’s good. Bet all employers ain’t like that…
Yeah sounds like you went through a limit. The road down to Lower Thames Road (or is it street) is shut as someone pointed out so you had no choice. Did it the other day myself, but on Irish plates so Im unlikely to hear about it. The problem is there are signs diverting HGVs the other side of the bridge, I saw it just too late so didn’t really have a chance to divert. I think its weak tube tunnels in that area, and cameras everywhere so I’d say a fine is likely Im afraid
