Weigh bridge positioning

Why on earth do some companies position their weigh bridges in such awkward positions where you have to perform ridiculous manoeuvres to get on the things. Raised weigh bridges with RSJ girders either side just the width of your truck ready to tear your tires off if you get an inch out of position!!! Went to one yesterday where you have to really perform stunt driving to get onto the thing. Weigh bridge operator said they get trucks daily tearing tires and hitting it, how absolutely ridiculous. End of rant.

I deliver steel and have to deal with this daily. Some of the weighbridges I gave to get on to is ridiculous.

Well said its like they go out to make drivers lives hard. There is one place where we go. I have always complained about the layout. One driver took a new Scania and damaged 3 trailer wheels. The manager went for an assessment and we know longer go there till they relocate the weighbridge

Waste yards are the worst. They’ll put them in a place that an 8 legger rigid has no problem getting on and off but not enough room to straighten up an artic trailer so you end up almost scraping the step on the cab on one side and rubbing the tyres on the trailer on the other side trying to get on.

Many have been in the same place for years and years long before artics with 45ft trailers etc and as business increases weigh bridge stays where it is,as they are a commodity that is expensive to move or replace.
