Weekly rest - help need

Having trouble getting my head around the weekly rest thing, been driving for a short time now, understand wtd (6hr rule) and eu rule (4.5hr drv etc).

working for agy doing on and off days here and there, and some time im off two days in wk etc, i have looked at some posts on here but i very basic terms for a newbie what is the best way to work it.

e.g

i worked one wk

mon - 8.45 - 18.00
tue - 8.45 - 19.30
wed - 8.45 - 21.15
thur off
fri - off
sat - 10.45 -21.45
sun - off

Wk 2

mon - 9.15 - 22.15
tue - 9.15 -21.15
wed - off
thur - off
fri - 12.00 -1930
sat -9.45 -21.45
sun - 6.45 - 18.30

do you calculate 6 x 24 hr from one w/rest to the other. one 45hr and can reduce 2nd 24hr and compo an the 3rd wk if you want?

any help would be grateful, as i dont want to mess myself up.

thanks to all you people who share info and knowledge for us new people etc ,

You do. As soon as you resume work after a weekly rest period you begin a new 144 hour calculation. Based on your example above you must start a new weekly rest period by 12:00 on Thursday of week 3.

Not quite as simple as that.

In any two consecutive weeks, 2 periods of 00:00 Monday - 24:00 Sunday, you must have at least one regular and one reduced weekly rest period. Note the at least bit as that is important and you can have more rest periods than that. This means you can have two, or more reduced weekly rest periods in a row as long as you have at least one regular in the two week period.

In your example above it would have been legal for the rest period on Wednesday and Thursday in week 2 to be a reduced rest, even though the rest on Sunday in week 1 was reduced.

Incidentally the reduced rest you took on the first Sunday does not require compensation as you already have a full weekly rest applying to that week, Thursday and Friday, and the regulations only require one rest a week. This means any additional rest periods in a week which has the minimum requirement of one rest do not need compensating.

viking121:
and compo an the 3rd wk if you want?

Not quite. Compensation must be made before the end of the third week following the reduction. The word following is the important one here. This means if you reduce in week 1 you have until the end of week 4 to make the compensation, week 4 is the third week following week 1.
