Yeh, I’ve tried that - but unless it involves actually getting a contract effectively for part time (30 hours Saturday sunday 2x15 or 3x10hours Friday-sun or sat-mon) there’s no advantage over staying at agency and just pumping away at weekend rates…
I applied to agencies like driverhire and delta etc. who boasted that “Hey bud, we WANT blokes like you who like the weekend shifts!” only to find that they expected me to do a Monday-Friday full time set of hours first to qualify for this weekend plum stuff… They obviously didn’t understand my inferior English when I said “I was looking for weekends” rather than “weekend overtime” FFS! 
At the yards, trying to get an actual part time contract is like trying to find rocking horse crap!
There do seem to be more and more jobs popping up around these parts though - just salaried and long hours expected of one, so I’m still walking on by alas…
Has anyone noticed that some yards have taken to putting outside HGV RECEPTION AREA HERE as if they are attempting to tout for “drive by job applicants”?

Used to walk the dogs at the local RSPCA in my spare time but they always used to give me a big rottie that didn’t really like people so I gave that up. Not sure how I would cope dealing with anyone with bigger problems than my own but a good idea all the same.
