Weekend driving bans

Anyone else seen this one? europeanvoice.com/article/im … 33439.aspx

There are some drivers who are ‘done’ for transporting cauliflowers because they are not classified as fresh vegetables.

Well I obviously wasn’t listening at school because I could have sworn that a cauliflower was a fresh vegetable.

Probably more to do with the translation, Choufleur or Blumen Kohl sounds like a flower rather than a vegetable, chuck a few blocks of cheddar amongst it and call it Choufleur Fromage on your CMR :stuck_out_tongue:

It also says in the article that courgettes can be transported in France on a Sunday, and this leads me to suspect that courgettes are grown in France, whereas cauliflowers aren’t.

So no problem with potage du French Onion then

or Jambon de Paris as opposed to York Ham

The bizarre thing here is that honey is specifically mentioned in the French regulations as perishable goods, and can be transported on a Sunday, even though a jar of honey is still edible after 2000 years.

Anyone know where the french stand on “All day breakfast in a tin”■■?

Biggest load of crap that I have read in a long time.
Who cannot go from Barcelona to Zaragoza on a Sunday ?
The only bans along that stretch are during holiday weekends/periods which mean you plan round it.
The Basque ban is too complicated ? for Gods sake you want it in braille or summat ? so long as you are on a main road and there is not restriction affecting you with where you want go you can drive. i.e A8, A15.A1, A68 can all be used for transiting the basque region in either direction unless heading for France and the French ban affects you i.e. Sundays/Bank holidays and not driving a fridge.
Not rocket science is it ?

Hardly relevant , artice was from 1997

As with everything else in France, a fresh vegetable is only a problem if it is a “transit vegetable”

Probably OK if it’s got some snails in it, or a bit of horse maybe.

which is when there was a general driving ban in the Basque region in both directions, about 2 or 3 years ago it was amended and certain through routes were approved in both directions with the exception of heading towards France if there was/is a driving ban in force in France
