Wedged lorry

Arborist:
There is indeed a weight limit for that bridge, but I think (not sure) it looks like he might have been turning left to go up streatly. Which would be comming from pangbourne which would be fine I believe. I only live in Newbury down the road and cycle this way all the time and streatly is not a hill you want to be taking a lorry up if you can avoid (in parts it gets to above 25%), going down it would be death. There are plenty of ways around which are now where near as tight. The pictures don’t do it justice to how tight it is up there.

I’ve taken a 7.5t up Streatly hill but had come across from high street and yes that’s a steep hill

Not forgetting…if he’s come from Pangbourne, he’s done well to get it under the railway bridge…not sure of the height and can’t be bothered to look tbh! Most of those roads around that area, especially in Upper Basildon etc etc (Muckaway will know 'em) are tight enough in a rigid…especially cutting through from Upper to Lower and coming out by the garage!

I’ve done clay and gabion stone jobs for river and rail jobs in the area and it was always a lottery which way you went. You could get told to go to access point A, then be told you needed point B, the other side of the river or railway and end up going back towards Wallingford, down to Reading and up towards Pangbourne. Upset the planners a bit.

That is a tight turn, I have done it a few times coming from the other direction after making farm deliveries in Aldworth and Ashampstead, and I have always driven straight across the cross roads and then reversed back up to the right to carry on back towards Blewbury, would never attempt to turn left, as even with a wide swing there is too much street furniture in the way.

Its not a nice junction, but these things are all sent to test us.

This chap managed to get half way down Mead lane, (the postcode is RG8 8ND if you want to check it out on streetview), the 2nd pic is what it took to get him out. He wanted Basildon in Essex and ended up in Upper Basildon.
