We have them over here as well. Everything from drink driving, boy racers to using the phone. Very hard hitting stuff. I’ve no idea why GB seems to be against this kind of stuff.

Maybe it’s the claim culture you have. There’s bound to be some ■■■■■■ wanting to claim money due to the distress caused by watching such an ad.

Do you think the tossers who do it would pay attention?

I am sure we have had “hard hitting” ads here and they made no difference.

Remember the one about texting that a load of Welsh students made? Still see plenty of ppl driving with one hand while stabbing a keyboard with the other.

All we can hope is that Darwins law takes them out of the gene pool before they do too much damage.

It’s a mixed reaction, some say they work some say they don’t. There has been a massive reduction in fatalities and serious collisions since the ads, and absolutely nothing else was done for road safety. There was no camera partnerships or increased police presence. To this day there is very little speed cameras about yet fatalities and serious accidents continue to fall despite a huge increase in traffic volumes. It would certainly make more sense trying these ads for a while than simply rolling out another 200 speed cameras which don’t work which is what usually happens.

Heres an article about them from a few years back.

Thanks for the help tachograph, I’ve now edited the original link. The things you learn whilst sitting at home in your boxer shorts is amazing. I’ve also learnt today that Holly Willoughby is mighty fit. First time I’ve ever watched this morning. :open_mouth:

Absolutely cannot wrong you there mate. It seems to me that nobody’s getting the message about drink-driving, and it’s not helped by the synicism of the authorities and the insurance companies. The authorities are too tight to spend on public information clips to show on the telly, and the insurance companies go whoopeeee! more inflated premiums to be levied. I honestly don’t believe they give a toss as long as they make their filthy lucre. If we had a zero alchohol limit, then the ‘grey areas’ would be illiminated, ther still would be the selfish/stupid ■■■■■■■■■, but there wouldn’t be the ones who think ‘they might just about be alright’.
While I’m ranting, it seems that the age of drink drivers (according to staistics) is plummeting. Now I remember when they brought the breathylizer in, in 1967, and I remember the outcry about how can a non driving woman, (Barbara Castle), possibly dictate to the Great British Drink-driving Public? At that time and in the years leading up to it, ther was carnage on the roads at Christmas time. I can remember also, the ‘heros’ that not only found a loop-hole in the law they could swerve through, but were cocky enough to brag about it on national TV. But, bit by bit, the authorities closed the loop-holes, and, a bit more slowly, people started getting the message. So, why, FFS has it all started to slide the other way again■■? :imp:
