Not too shabby for a supermarket (Asda) truck are they, ok they’re low cab version but still have some good head height, the 4 leggers are 420’s the 6 leggers are 460’s, not sure what the little side windows will achieve though.
I seen these parked in volvos storage yard a few weeks back, but without the wind deflector kits, i did wonder who would be having these. They looked very european without the wind kit and those side windows, unusual looking, but that is decent kit for supermarket work. I recently changed from the new gen scania s500 to a volvo and i find it massively better
Are the curtains across or are those little rear windows blacked out, like the driver’s side on new gen Scanias…and on the subject of Scanias surprised to see your lot shifting away.
The window behind the driver is of little use, but the passenger side one is quite useful at oblique junctions, except that trucker types tend to pull the curtains permanently across for added peek-a-boo points
Did they see fit to spec rear windows to help with blind siding?

Little side windows have their own little curtains and curtain rail, the near side little window could be of some use but you have to really crick your neck round to see out of little offside window, there is no rear window though.
Apparently they’re not being liveried up as we only have them for a year or so as Asda are determined to have LNG trucks at our depot but Scania only do a 4 legged version and we have 2 on trial from Volvo which are continually causing problems when trying to gas them up so there’s not really a suitable gas alternative out there for us at the moment.
If I were buying trucks I’d spec the little windows. As mentioned they are so useful on the passenger side, its a shame they fell by the wayside
Why the swing away from Scania to Volvo in general though…■■?
Every Asda truck I’ve seen has been a Scania for the past X amount of years…■■

We previously had Volvos for 5 yrs which were dual fuel (diesel & gas) but they reached the end of their life basically but now we’re after gas only trucks but at the moment there’s non really about so it’s a short term thing having these until a suitable gas truck comes on the market, I think Bedford have some Volvos too I don’t think we’re the only depot.

Too many drivers off with bad backs from the horrible seats in scania i suspect
Nice, better than the bottom of the line junk i drove at my old RDC. And speaking of ‘green’ trucks Wal Mart made a big deal of getting one at another RDC but also had problems with it so quietly replaced the environmentally friendly parts with a nasty diesel engine and a ten speed gearbox.
ooh Shiny. Didnt know you were getting Volvo’s. We got your 15 plate cast offs over the weekend for xmas cover. At least they are 450’s instead of our 410’s

We had 63 plate Volvos before not 15 plates unless you mean all the hired Scannys we had ?
Must have been the hires then, all 15 plate scanny’s. Just know a load of drivers were doing rest days over the weekend to come down and get them. Apparently one has full leather with a fridge, microwave and a coffee machine

Yeah one did have all that fitted in and you’re right Sunday a lot were collected from us but we’re keeping some along with a few Actros’s for the Xmas rush.
Can I ask where they went ?
