We have allowed the industry to go downhill!

We have sat back and allowed manufacturers, online shopping and supermarkets to walk all over us,and dictate how much we get,how we deliver and how we must treat their customers ! And all of them one way or another make money off the transport costs.
These dictators treat us like something they have stepped in ! As the second most regulated industry in the UK after airlines, we deserve more money and better conditions. The online customer now wants goods delivered when it suits them, and they get charged a premium but the haulier sees very little or any of this extra payment.
Where is the UNION ? They only seem to appear when its supermarket problems or fuel delivery problems.
This is a great website and a lot of chat goes on about conditions of this, that and the next thing ! The only way changes will happen is stick together and make a stand, but I doubt this would ever happen.

I dont think the haulage industry will ever stand together !! just look back and remember the fuel protest?! while some were standing up to be counted over the cost of fuel others was running around pulling loads :open_mouth:

If the hauliers won’t stick together the drives should
STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE

I’m down for a strike I could use a 24 hour break .

Many of us remember the old days when a potential customer would ring us and ask for a quote to take his goods from A to B.
When did it suddenly become the norm for the customer to dictate what he was going to pay you?
Would Tosco accept that you turn up at their till with a trolley full of groceries and tell the person on the checkout that you were going to pay them twenty quid for your week’s shopping?

agree the union idea is a busted flush cos once a person has debt(another word for walking into slavery) big debt=morgage>the suggestion to strike is simply that, a suggestion. As it is pretty much an impossible dream to get by on one wage /nil debt ? these days ,whats to do? unions have been rubished over the last 20 years as the preserve of the “old labour” guys, well, so be that ,it has now become a every man 4 himself life we are part off, wish i knew the answer?(wait a min,its unions!)

Glad I’m not a “real” driver.

problem is that if we start been akward about what we do how much we should be paid etc… there is always someone else
