I knock ESL because of this.No this is shocking. Cleaners at ESL earn more than day drivers. HE HE!!!

Oh dear.
The cleaners don’t get to work 15 hour days though. They are drivers privileges.

Anyone who joins the army, meaning they are willing to risk his life to fight for his country and protect the freedom that gives YOU the right to insult it, is a hero in my book. But don’t you think that definition of “hero” diminishes the meaning of the word when it’s attached to real hero’s who have shown valour and in some cases sacrificed their lives to save others ?
eagerbeaver:
Great post Snowman. Lots of people on here criticize,i would love to know what percentage of them have had the courage to sign up.Over the years I’ve known a few people who have joined the military and not one of them joined to save the country.
If you’re old enough cast your mind back to the Falklands war when some people were complaining that when they joined up they never thought they’d have to go and fight in a war
I agree with this. A true hero has to do something exceptional to earn the title like the guy who got a medal a few weeks ago. He went above and beyond to save his comrades and he didn’t regard himself as a hero for his actions. I strongly support our service men and women (the armed forces day is the only day of the year that I will not work because I attend them every year) but the word ‘hero’ like many other words, is battered around so much that it undermines its meaning which is a shame for those who do earn the title. The media has a lot of damage in its wake
hats off to stobarts.nice gesture.
Reckon we’re getting a bit bogged down on definitions of hero.
The 2 lads with the VCs, they went above and beyond the call of duty and put their lives on the line for their mates, I don’t think anybody would deny that they are heroes.
As for Lee Rigby a brave lad who served his country, murdered because he was in the wrong place at wrong time.
As for his hero status, I think that was a reflection of how and what the public thought about that atrocity, so let’s put that to bed as some posts are (maybe unintentionally) starting to border on lack of respect for the young lad

Let’s be honest most people at Stobartgroup couldn’t care less who’s names are on their cabs, they are a brand and need to be the number one in the public eye.How better to do that than have a marketing department that can utilise the name of some people that became high profile in the public eye thanks to the media machine.
Get real people, don’t believe the hype as that’s all it is. You could almost say it’s working as low and behold the story of how caring and kind stobartgroup are is steadily working it’s way around Facebook, Twitter etc etc
Their marketing bods will be rubbing their hands in delight !!
And all because of a soldier who was butchered to death…sick really when you think why are they ‘Really’ using his name…out of love or respect…No, pure self promotion, nothing more nothing less.

Stobarts shouldn’t get involved with the politics of all this.
My sympathy goes out to him and his family.I get the point he earned an medal in service but he was unnecessarily brutally murdered. There are plenty of service men an women getting killed everyday, not one of them has been honored with their name on a lorry.Does this mean murder victims will get their name in the public eye, don’t think so.
Pure publicity…
