Watford Gap North Bound

So there I am just going past the entry road to the (rip off) services, 89 kph, saw the line of wagons & cars coming on to lane 1, moved over into lane 2 but hung back because there was another class 1 in front of me, flashed him out twice, he was in another world, not even looking in his mirrors, got to the point of no return & he still wasn’t reacting to the slow vehicles coming on to the motorway. So I thought ‘Sod It’ & carried on up the hill past him & the slow wagons in lane one.
Suddenly Mr ‘Class 1’ driver Wakes up & wants to come out to overtake- too late 44 tons of lorry in his way, Whoops ! He gave me all the Hand Signals you could think of !

What a knob ! What did he want me to do ? Slow down & loose all my speed for the hill whilst I wait for him to make a last minute decision ?

Sorry Mate, but if you can’t plan ahead, should you really be driving a wagon ?

Moan over !

I go past there a lot as I’m based in Rugby . I ALWAYS move into lane 2 at the earliest opp there as the amount of accidents and near misses beggars belief !!
It makes me smile that VOSA often sit there witnessing all this but all they are interested in is pulling the next victim into Crick weighbridge.

Lane 3 like the Cougar Couriers 18Ton DAF LF on the M4 yesterday

Steve

It’s not only Watford, it’s every sodding entry slip road.
Be warned if its me you are meeting coming onto the motorway then be prepared to go down the hard shoulder.■■■■■■■■

Well done on passing your test btw, you’ll soon get use to this sort of thing and it will be like water off a ducks back in no time.

I feel your pain Martin! This happens all the time when I’m doing other peoples job for them and reading the road ahead. I flash them out and I just KNOW they aren’t even looking in the mirror. We all know we should be checking mirrors constantly, especially when approaching a potential hazard such as you described.

But there’s only so much you can do to help a nob who won’t help himself. You did the right thing btw.
