Water in fuel maybe from Felixstowe

A main location for our motors to fill up is Felixstowe waterfront services (key fuels) in the last month we’ve had to replace a few injectors and all fuel filters which had only been done over the Xmas period, the water separator was half full on them all which isn’t normally the case.i was just wondering if anyone else have had any problems?

Cheers

i know of someone who had problems with 2 different renault magnums after filling up at the keyfuels (i think) site in felixstowe port

had to put new fuel pumps on them both, as apparently, they have 2 lift pumps due to the length of the fuel pipe from the tank to the injectors (Mack engine)

Not what you need really is it the price you pay for fuel and its chucking water and sludge in with it

don’t know if it is the same garage or not, but it was the one just inside the gate as you head towards Languard terminal

apparently, they were doing a lot of building work around the tanks at the time, and had got all the yard dug up

The one just inside the gate is UK fast Fuels - I have been filling up there for the last 3 weeks with no problems at all so I doubt its that one - and I think these all have mega filters and water traps built in to stop this happening
The worst thing to ever happen was when they filled a diesel storage tank up at Lymm with kerosene rather than diesel - it cost lots of drivers and companies new engines
cheers

No it’s the one next to wincantons yard, they now have pumps 1-4 closed due to a problem with it.

it’s a different fuel site then, the one i know about is the one inside the dock gate

OK, I’ve read enough. There’s a serious problem with fuel at this site in Felixstowe, thanks for the heads-up.

Kerosene in the diesel storage tanks is to common to be accidental at some of these bunker sites, i remember pointing this out before on this forum, at the time i was told i was talking rubbish! then not long after the storage tanks at j13 truckstop were found to be full of the stuff
remember kerosene is a fraction of the cost of white diesel so if you can mix a bit with your white road fuel you can make it go further

this is the one i use, and i’ve ended up with an unschedualed fuel filter change this week - the lad at bury st edmunds daf told me they had had a lot of gold star daf’s in with the same problem - but they use the waterfront services?

I had the same with the station at Bolton Abbey, filled up and truck did 2 miles before it conked out, full of water. Went in on my way back past in the wrecker and played merry hell…
They denied it, but strangely shut a month later because they couldn’t afford to replace the underground tanks which were rotten.

I briefly worked at a petrol station and one aspect of my job was to check the water content of all the tanks on a daily basis. Let’s just say you’d be surprised at how much water you are actually buying! :open_mouth:

This sounds like they’re really taking the ■■■■ though. Has anybody informed Trading Standards?

Does the water in a bulk tank sit at the top or bottom?

i think its probably denser?? than diesel so would be at the bottom…i prepare to stand corrected

Water sits at the bottom as its more dense that fuel oil

there is definately a problem with the fuel at felixstowe - as i said , i had to change my filter 2 weeks ago, well, i’ve ended up in stockton on tees daf today with a major mis fire - suprise suprise my fuel filter was like charcoal!! i only ever fill up at the garage near gate one(well 99% of the time) so i’ll be taking both fuel filters to show the owner (if he’s there) on tuesday, not happy! :frowning:

Maritime and express freight have had about 20 volvos between them go down with the same trouble after filling there. It makes the night heater pack up too, that’s how volvos at ipswich became aware of it
