If you’re employed, don’t worry about it, it’s not your problem.
If you’re an OD, bill for the full job, go home and sit in the pub.

Same at my place,they’ll send you to regular pick up only to get there and its been cancelled or already collected or we dont know anything about it,and yet they keep banging on about using too much diesel,if they used the phone more and talked to each other think how much fuel savings are to be had.
