bagpuss:
that one on the M6 for the toll road WILL never ever say anything but clear even if its nose to tail for the whole length of the reps road as the sign is i belive owned at operated by the m6toll
not quite true as it has said toll road closed…this was over christmas day i think 2 years ago…or maybe christmas eve…but like you say it has been known to say toll road clear when in fact its closed…
There is an alarm on the signs to remind the operator in the control room to check the signs and turn them off. Shame the alarm can be turned off which adds to the problem. As the guys above said, phone in, your call will only lead to the situation improving.

Are 0300 calls free from mobiles?
I get sorely pee’d off with 0800 and 0845 numbers that cost me even though I’m on 1500 free minutes.
Also, M5 and M42 signs are a total joke. Might as well givwen the money they cost to the local one legged arse kicking club!
So what is the chances of getting a speeding fine for going through these gantries above the posted speed limit ,as i went through 3 on the m1 at 56 even though the limit was set at 40 ,then 50 ,then national speed limit on 3 consecutive gantries ,though i could see all 3 gantries from the the one posted at 40 with nothing untoward happening inbetween them…cashcow ■■?

Reckon you’re right mate. They very often do this on the M42. All of them at 60 except the one with a scammera, that’s at 40 for no reason I can see other than the chance of an earner.
I must admit it really pishes me off big time when a talivan sits on a straight stretch of motorway with a low crash rate purely to make as much money from motorists as it can!
