No you weren’t wrong they were taking the pi55
Last induction I did ended up being 5hrs. Was supposed to be an hour with a short driving assessment but that turned into a delivery doing a collection on the way back and ended up bing 5hrs. I phoned the agency up and they agreed with me that as far as they were concerned that was work and not an assessment so I got paid.
Slackbladder:
There are plenty places that do long inductions these days, and not just agency work. Its their way of covering their backsides should anything go wrong. If you don’t think it’s worth it then don’t do it, as said earlier, someone will be along later to work while you sit at home.
But im no sat at home ya fud
Well look at you getting all feisty & giving up your expensive time to reply.
My time is not expensive but its not free either.maybe i have more respect for myself than you have but if you feel its ok for this type of thing to happen then fill your boots

All these assessments and inductions have not improved things one iota. Accident levels are probably at an all time high and minor damage is the norm at many places.
I never said they would improve things, they just give the management/agency an umbrella should anything happen. as in " you were told about that on induction therefore it’s your fault not ours".
I do value my time, I’m just not dumb enough to let it get in the way of earning money. Back in 2005 I went for a job, had to attend an unpaid trial day, did that & got the job. Last year it was 5 hrs unpaid induction & driving assessment, did that & got the job. In both cases I just added hours to my time sheets over the 1st month to claw back the time I’d spent working for nothing. Of course if your not bright enough to work this out then feel free to feel smug about turning down work.
well said nearly there, slackbladder is just a thief he said so as clawed back time its the likes of him why its like that keep up the good work yes man
I have a unpaid induction tomorrow that is going to take 7 hours, but will get free cpc training and a full time permanent job out of it… in todays employment situations, i would take the 7 hours on the chin and claw it back over time, but knowing i’m getting a job out of it with a very good company and one ive had my eye on for some time, i’m happy and have nothing to complain about.
at the end of the day, a analogue tacho will be made out for the day saying other work and breaks, so i have recorded the stuff, but i get a job out of it, considering no one else will even interview me right now, i will take it!
Pick your battles as the war is long and hard!

Well done on the job, nice to see someone has the get up and go to get a job, and see beyond not getting paid for 7 hours plenty of time to get the 7 hours back here and there
Jeff.
a bit confusing to me
an ‘induction’ means you have already been given the job and is a way of ensuring that you understand the companies procedures.
it should be paid, it’s for their benefit entirely.
whereas an interview or assessment (other than ongoing assessments) to see if you are up to their standards is a different thing and perhaps not paid
how many jobs would ask you to start work on a Monday and expect you to work for nothing for a shift while they explained office or factory rules to you?
Tarrman:
5 hours unpaid is a joke. You should at the very least get some kind of reimbursement for your time.
Thats right …five hours isnt an assesment ,its a third of,or a half of a shift…
This a job skilled in the removals industry, removing the urine that is.I did a job recently driving a beer wagon ,there was an induction at the start of the shift. The guy saw me hadnt saw me before and was annoyed told me he was sick of the agency always sending different drivers to him.Induction took about 20 minutes. What does any one have to say that needs to take more than 20 minutes?
Slack i love you yes men,its comedy gold yous taking a ■■■■ beating for agencey who dont care kne bit about you.i got work else where direct ,so sitting being smug has paid off you common thief.if your rate is that snide you nedd to "claw back"the pay your obviously on the bottom of the ladder work

I was asked to do a induction.was told its about 5 hours long but could be longer unpaid and maybe a shift afterwards.i said no thanks as 5 hours is ott in my book,a hour yes but no more
You can wash my car for free if you like as well?
Total ■■■■ take if you ask me, the rich feeding off the poor. Like when T & whoever else threw away the 8 hour guarantee at the height of the recession. Total Hunts.
Be different if you had no experience & the induction would add skilz to YOU. (Rather than just listening to some baw bag go on about what colour your high viz should be & how you should get in & out of the wagon).

Did you two bellends go to the same school, if you attended at all that is.
I have no idea what the first paragraph is about so I’ll give that a miss. Neither of the two jobs I mentioned were for agency, see how I spelt that? So I don’t understand the yes men or ■■■■ beating thing. The rates I work for are just fine thanks, I just get back money for the time I’ve spent learning the companies way of working, judging by what’s been said on here it’s not that uncommon.
As for bottom of the ladder work? It’s driving lorries, I was under the impression that’s what we all did on here, or most anyway. It’s a lot easier than trying to decipher what you two numptys are battering on about that’s for sure.
Your boring me weak bladder,go stand on your soap box else where ya knob jockey
What’s up, Some of the words too big for you? Or are you just upset that you didn’t think of doing it yourself? No problem there, you just sit at home polishing your helmet while others go and make some cash.

Don’t ask questions like…“was i wrong” if you don’t like the answers you’re going to get and they upset you enough to make personal attacks on other posters. Grow up. As it turns out you know your right, so i’ll lock the thread save it upsetting you anymore.
Don’t repeat the personal attacks.
