Not me today but entirely possible - Portarlington would be a regular place we visit as a subby for one of the larger hauliers in the North of Ireland . I would get that run now and again myself .

I got off the Belfast night ferry this morning and I’m now on the Rosslare boat home so I might have been spotted ha.

As for beefy, know one would notice that fleet spec motor

LOL - I’m afraid for us that IS fleet spec . We like them tidy , and we look after them . Thats 15 months old with 175000kms on the clock. one truck - one driver through the week and a selcect few part timers at the weekends again usually the same part timer in the truck at the weekend .

Its not an ornament . We run legal but we don’t sit around any longer than we have to . Work hard - play harder and all that .

I’ve seen some high milers but in that short time :open_mouth:

steady work , regular runs , a lot of drop and swap trailers , very little time wasted in RDC’s or the like hanging about 3 or 4 hours or longer to tip or load . We stay well away from the South of England and other traffic congested areas (mostly ) so its not as bad as it looks .

Well yeah its made to be used and its serving its purpose well, whats it like for realiabilty with such heavy use?

Touch wood - no problems yet . No ad blue issues that I keep hearing about in other Volvos , no problems with the batteries . Our local dealer Dennisons in Ballyclare are very good at getting it in for its 8 week checks - a couple of marker lights , a small problem with the side skirt pieces between the mid and rear axles and a faulty sensor in the handbrake are the only things I can remember having to be done to it . All in all we are well pleased with it .

No sorry, why, what makes you more important than the other 400,000 HGV,s on the UK roads?

I did a few shifts with a company once who had two trucks who went night trunks from ■■■■■■■■■■■ down to Birmingham (double manned) and back up again and when they got back to ■■■■■■■■■■■ myself and another driver were waiting to take the trucks to Dundee where they were unloaded then loaded with localised deliveries which we did then they were loaded for the night trunks, taken back down to ■■■■■■■■■■■ where the drivers were waiting to take it down to Birmingham. The engine barely ever got switched off never mind get cold except for Saturday into sunday.
That truck was a year old and had almost 100,000 kms on it.

The driver or owner has pride in their appearance. It obviously stood out when I noticed it(or another),on the road in Ireland.Don`t knock a man for personal/professional pride.

If you haven’t got anything nice to say then don’t say anything

Not helping the mood on here at the moment now, is it?

That`s not a particularly high mileage … My Daf was new in Oct 2017 and now done 62000 miles with just 2 of us driving it. I would expect Scottish and Irish based driving teams to be alot higher due to hours on the road / lack of congestion / higher average speed ( celtic overdrive  ). Overheads are there 24 hours a day so a truck really needs to be utilised for 18 + hours of that and ideally at weekends too.

Nice truck Beefy !

Not one single thing makes me more important than any other HGV on the road . I don’t get that far south and I know some of the people on here look out for others that take part in the forums . I just thought I’d post a pic and see if anyone remembered seeing me . Thats all .
Please accept my deepest apologies if I have upset the balance of life in your bubble .

In 1986 I’m sure we did about 5km under 234000km in our new volvo’s first year ,double cabbing with the wife on euro work with only two customer , one at the bottom of Spain and one here.
Second year about the same…

And that is a clean looking truck.
