I had to wait an hour on my first load this morning, then on my second I was waiting an hour and ten; A rep asked if I could open fencing up and tip it (no way, got a disciplinary for going on some grass a while back when nobody there). I was then told staff would be half hour to an hour so “stick it on break”; I refused and waited until staff turned up, tipped and then found somewhere to have my 50 minutes. Nowhere near 4 and half hours driving…was I awkward?
Yes
Not at all.
So you put it on break, and after 12 minutes someone turns up, so you would then have to have a proper break later anyhow.
POA would have been the way to go.
Ken.
You Nathan, awkward, surely not? To be honest in ‘my day’ we would have chucked it on break, for a quarter or half at least, as you may not have had time to fit a break in later on! Used to get a quarter at the tarplant when I travelled in from the yard and saved the half until later in the day when you were sat somewhere else waiting to tip. Usually had to have another 45 in the afternoon anyway if you had a busy day, you do whatever suits you in the end.
Pete.

You know the ones that not only would’ve put it on break, but cried and screamed at being held up even for 5 minutes
I did get to read Heritage Commercials though

Ken.
If I’m not driving then I’m unavailable, usually laid across the cab letting the teararses worry about loads and bonus…

Nah, [zb] it. Your time is your own, as are your breaks
I agree. If your sat waiting to load then this is not a break. What if you wanted to go for a wander to stretch your legs, have a whizz, find something to eat?
put it on poa then if you have to wait more than 45 mins vosa count it as break anyway, if not you can still work on and comply with rtd

No they don’t
I hope this helps.

Unless things have changed recently that’s not correct.
VOSA will regard the first 45 minutes of POA whilst sat in the passenger seat on a multi-manning trip as break, but it’s only a concession for multi-manning because there’s no way to put the tachograph on break for the second driver.
This concession is for multi-manning only and in general POA will not count as break even though 45 minutes of POA will reset the driving time on a digital tachograph.
