Was anyone on here the culprit?

DHL place at Normanton, I pulled onto the bay and was given a wheel chock, red airline lock and he asked for my keys, as I was passing them to him he asked “have you locked the cab drive?” I replied that I hadn’t and was given my keys back and told to lock up as I had to sit on a bench inside the building !! :unamused:

When i did steering wheel attendant work for asda I always thought the lights were a bit confusing, because there is one on either side of you.

Don’t see a problem with this as long as the lights are the same colour @ the same time  I would have thought that it was for left hand drive as well as right hand drive vehicles, good idea

Norberts in Nuneaton lock your red line take your keys and make you wait in the canteen now that’s a bit ott. I think it’s just health and safety men trying to justify their jobs.

don’t forget the unit park brake, the trailer park brake and the wheel chocks, all that, and you have to reverse down hill on to the loading bay :unamused:

AS been said above, its idiots like that, which is the reason we have to do what we have to now, and as for ,using a different set of keys, it wont belong before thats sussed, then there will be an across the board of no staying in your cab that may give other nutters something to think about. like a spanish driver thought he was being clever at our place when he used his spare bunch of keys, attached to them was a ■■■■■ with a few hundred euros in it, plus his house keys, anyway ol clever ■■■■ forgot, and lost everything…serves him right.

NHS by any chance? I was in there Friday, quickest tip ever 2 HOURS, and they had the cheek to complain that I was 1/2 hour late for one booking and an hour early for the other. To cut a long story I got told off for having remote fob on me which I had to explain that I can’t start the truck with, I also explained the dangers of their staff walking behind a reversing truck.

Isn’t it times like this when one appreciates a tractor with a radio & heater & 12/24v supply that works when the keys are not in the ignition? Maybe the windows work too…

I reckon Axors tick a lot of boxes here. Older models with windy-down windows are a distinct advantage! :stuck_out_tongue:

Got a MAN tractor this week. Radio cuts out after an hour, heater goes on and off when it feels like set to 27 so it wasn’t supposed to! and of course the windows don’t work.
The problems start when you hand your keys in, and then there’s a shift change… Once no one knows you exist anymore, especially if you’re on the bay down the darkest end of the building right down the end (Terrus Bayus unus incognita)

Then of course there’s the knock-on effects of the six o’clock whistle! :unamused:

On the subject of h&s gone mad try Heinz at Wigan they have the lock that goes in front of trailer rear axle then a bay specific lock to go on trailers red line which when locks releases the key which you then take to a switch/ lock adjacent to the loading bay which you have to insert key in and turn so they can open the dock door and energise the dock leveller then you have to lock your cab hand in the keys at office and wait in drivers room until loaded

did heinz wigan for a few years had the lock that goes on trailers red air line take key to release loading bay doors one day one of the staff came and said could you move trailer forward a bit not a problem just used the shunt button never had the lock that goes in front of trailer rear axle though

just come back from wilkinsons worksop backed on the bay went to hand my keys in your ok drive we will hand you the paperwork when your done just stay in your cab easy as

the worst place for h and s has to be mcvities in leighton buzzard were u put it on a bay they have them locking bars that go in between the rear wheels of the tri then you drop your tri park the unit in a space facing then you hand your keys in and have to sit a canteen on the famous plastic chairs :imp: :imp: :imp:

Assuming its a sleeper cab, the windows should work using the buttons on the centre console - iirc.

Dont have any issues with handing keys in.

Perhaps he took his ignition key off and handed in the remaining keys? That’s what I do, lol.

Here is an idea for someone who wants to go on dragons den with it :sunglasses: my fee is 10%

Design a lock that goes on the red line when its removed from the trailer. A lock that the key will only come out of when its fitted to the red line.

All you have to do is go into the office at the RDC, get issued a lock, fit it to your red line and hand the key back in to the RDC office :unamused:

When tipped/loaded you go get the key, remove the lock and return it to the office at which point they hand you your paperwork.

That system they use at snodland sounds pretty similar to this ^^^^^^^

Same kind as this operates in Morrisons rdc at Bellshill. It only operated in the rru. It s called salvo lock.Costs a small fortune to install.

That’ll be at Kitt Green where RHD trucks have to blindside reverse onto the bays.

Go round the corner to the Mill site and you get told not to blind side reverse by security, Heath and Safety at its best…
