Wartime woman driver at Tarslag

Hello,
My mother will be celebrating her 90th birthday in March and I am trying to put together a nostalgic slide-show for her.
She has very fond memories of her time driving lorries for Tarslag during the War in the Teesside and North Yorkshire area, and she thinks the vehicles were Austins. Can anyone point me to where I might get a photograph of that sort of vehicle. Any other contributions on women lorry drivers in the war would eb very welcome. Thanks in advance.

I cannot let this go without an answer and I cannot give you any info or pics mate but tell your mum happy birthday from me and thanks for doing her bit in the war, fredm

Ditto,regards,900x20.

My Mum was in the land army during the war and she died 2 years ago aged 92. It was a hard time for most people back then but the tales my Mum told me they also had some fun. All the best to your Mum for March.

If you Google Tarslag there are some pics but seemingly nothing from the wartime, the name rings a bell with me from way back though.

Pete.

Thanks a lot for the good wishes. I detect the camaraderie that my mother enjoyed so much still exists!

I can.t find anything on lorries… there one of tarslag rail engines (1930) in a railway collection in norfolk called penlee
it was in cornwall (penlee quarry)then bilston (tarslag)amalgamated road stone to a shingle quarry somewhere in Kent
and is now in yaxham light railway collection norfolk
Ive got a photo of a early austin.the lorry isnt as big as it looks and is possibly only a 3 tonner

the photo belongs to bedford 1…i think i do know the lad behind the wheel as Alan sturge.
they have a simular lorry to this one on the show circuit… i have a second austin smaller but will carry more
the a horse and cart that was one of the options of the day.this is at sandbach

hope these give you an idea
