Warren's Vs Evri

Hi all,

Moved so had to leave a job I was happy with and over a year with no issues RDC mainly and bit of general haulage inbewteen, so now have two options for work and looking for any extra info as neve worked for neither,
Evri superhub PM shift, and noticed the added, **maybe required to do class 2 drving if required (sorta red flag to me as different work to class 1 ususally, unless they trunk with them, so do they?, or is it the local mass multidrop stuff, and maybe their struggling to get drivers for, or then
Warrens Nights, Area is around Barnsley/Rotherham so if anyone knows any better ones, but these are the first two responding,

Langdons & Green Logistics also, Greens being further away about 45mins, but also in area too, and could approach. feel all are similar, just Evri doesnt use Fridges proabably learn all the sites within a few months, so becomes dead easy, thinking Warrens at the moment, but will attend both assesments etc,

when in these positions, feel we sometimes close doors if progressing two, and then choosing one over the other, just me though as dont like to let people down after theyve put work into the processing etc… but what do we do, just one at a time, as can take a week or two to process.

Been on Days for last year doing just RDC General haulage, loved it, I like routine so same runs all the time dont bother me, so all should be similar I expect. just though and expect need to get used to diversions , know Evri gets a bad rep, but everywhere is different and its PM shift so finish around midnight rather than early morning, which appeals as long time since doing nights like years…so if anyones worked at the Barnsley Dept Evri appreciate any feedback, or Warrens (have done a search not found much, and this site I find great for info like this, so any appriciated.

Barnsley hub hasn’t been open long so probably not many people who have worked there. Plenty will have driven from Warrington and Rugby though. I find Rugby much easier to deal with, the traffic office at Warrington seem to be awkward, rude and unhelpful just for the sake of it while Rugby are nicer and more pleasant people.

They do use class 2 for trunking of a sort, they call it Radial and it’s usually for the last run of the night out to depots with Next Day parcels on board.

Good… was worried Id be running round picking up from local stores/agents for them, and to me thats multidrop … and not what Im looking for.

**Thanks, if no one else has posted if I do take it will give run down.

*Know already, have to do a interview with agency prior just to do theory, before I do the actual theory, this is after already doing the theory online test to register. :open_mouth: seems a bit much as not my favorite thing written tests, but told they were having too many fail this on the main assesment, so if you go in through staffline expect lots of theory tests or 3 that I know of so far

All I’ve heard about Evri at Hoyland is it’s easy but starting to become micromanaged by ■■■■ rules and regs like Next distribution. Which isn’t surprising because I heard a lot of Next management jumped ship when Evri opened.

Also drivers are struggling to get shifts in because they’re told it’s quiet but then they’re advertising for drivers so dunno what that’s about. Drivers wanting 5 shifts but only getting 3 etc.

It’s all permanent agency in there run by 3 agencies I think.

No personal experience myself. Just what I hear on the grapevine.

Yeah. Suppose if your not employed at moment you’ve nothing to lose have you. Not like your leaving a good job for something that might not work out.

Warrens is Culina at Fletchers Bakeries Hillsbourgh I should imagine and isn’t Evri just the new Hermes at top of A61 Hoyland?
Don’t know much about the Evri but a mate of mines just finished with Warrens and gone back to tramping, salaried work and too many weekends in that salary have persuaded him to go back down road mon-fri.

That’s right.

Hourly rates as advertised are good which usually means there’s more to the job than meets the eye [emoji1787]

Depending where abouts you are, there’s Stanton’s that do fridge work. They’re near Aldi at Goldthorpe

Greens group (near the stockyard) is around the corner from me and I still wouldn’t work for them even if I was totally skint, they permanently advertise for drivers iirc £13/hr mon-fri, & £15/hr 4/4 tramping

Whats so crap about them?
Heard others say same but then met a couple of drivers that say it’s alright [emoji1745]
I’ve heard tackle gets hammered and plenty of foreigners up there.

Don`t they also own the Talstaff recruitment agency ?

They supply various big outfits up that way, this would give you a chance to appraise each one and take a punt once happy instead of going through the process then not liking it from the off

Clearly they don’t care about compliance as I regularly see their trucks emerging from the yard with headlights out, marker lights hanging off the trailers etc. many of them look like they have been in a demolition derby

Thanks for advice, Not good to hear about compliance issues, however doesn’t write them off totally for me at moment, as carry bulbs, and not scared to VOR, just means could be very short experience.

Like mat, I had a drive singing their praises a while back, did notice he was in new truck though, think that’s how we started chatting lol, so maybe a moment of joy because of it, if it becomes a needed option, will bear this in mind if approach them, so THANKS !

They`ve just had 70 new Mercs delivered, so nothing hanging off yet :open_mouth:

You posted that ^^^ an hour ago, so it’s likely to have changed by now

I was in a certain yard where I routinely work, they were using GG trucks to deliver to stores, and one of their drivers was told to back his trailer onto a bay. When I went out 5 mins later he was opening the doors, the engine was running and the reverse klaxon was sounding “this vehicle is reversing. He’d clearly jumped out of the truck to open the doors and left it o reverse, several times I’ve seen their drivers not even apply the brakes before getting out, so you can imagine the potential disaster waiting to happen. If anyone else had see this he would have been banned from the site.
They do also have some blue eyed boys who get the blinged out trucks

Doesn’t look good does it.

Those bling motors I think are a few loyal drivers that have followed Pete Osbourne around over the years from company to company. So I’ve been told anyhow.

Just seen :open_mouth: Newell & Wright Transport £10.75 ph … National minimum £10.18 so 57p more … jesus, hope that advert gets zero applications, and they should be ashamed to try and bring it down to that level… containers I think, and told their easy work (not saying they are for any container drivers reading) , but sure you still need to drive and be awake… and for 57p above minimum wage :open_mouth: , add in you CPC, possible fines, etc etc… if the industry does get down to that level, I’ll be taking the Funeral bearer job I noticed at £11ph… as at least you get to ■■ with traffic and they cant get too arsey… then again with todays drivers proably would lol… hehehe
