Warning m11 duxford area. Objects thrown of bridges

Watch out on the m11 had some idiot decide to throw something big of a bridge today coming down the m11 near duxford came right through my sunroof. Luckily another second sooner would of been my front screen. I would use stronger language but i am being polite

I know what has caused this mate.

Desypete dropped his wallet somewhere near a m/way bridge in that area.(£38.50 an hour in the eighties you know!).

Nasty.

It’s probably a complete waste of time doing so (for various reasons) but have you informed the police…the person answering the phone might not be in the least interested, Northampton weren’t many years ago, but you’ll have done your duty and if you have a crime number you can raise the issue if some poor bugger gets hurt in that area.

Police were straight out there with patrols searching but found no one about

Blimey, well done them and well done you for getting them out.

Blimey, things might not be as bad as the Daily Wail wants us to believe.

Blimey - that’s near where I saw my first “Remain” poster last night… What is the world coming to?

Wots a “Cereal” on those tourist attraction signs btw?

I can’t imagine this being much of a barrel of laughs either. :open_mouth:

Pwwoarr! Those rice crispies are getting my blood up now!

I heard this call last night and we had a patrol looking on the motorway with police units and Police also had local units on the over bridge road. Just a mindless act. When the Ford Motor Co driver got killed on the M3 a few years ago, an initiative between Highways, Surrey Police and Surrey Fire, saw people visiting schools explaining the consequences of throwing objects of bridges. His family would attend and talk about the early morning knock on the door by two Police officers, that changed their lives forever. Unfortunately, due to funding, this got dropped. Perhaps it’s time to reinstate it at known areas?

This was a lucky escape. Second sooner would of been through the front screen.the weather was horrendous. So any rapid reaction would of resulted in who knows what. The fact someone thinks this is funny and would actually do this should be sentenced. Someone will end up getting killed again before to soon.

When was the last time someone got sentenced for such a thing? - There was that taxi driver running in scabs that was killed by a breeze block during the miner’s strike I believe…

A long time ago though.

The A12 seems quieter these days, but there have been a few incidents of objects being thrown off the last bridge coming down Wrotham Hill before you go under the joining Eastbound M26 bridge…

I’m already steering into another lane at night so I don’t pass under any figures I see on top of the bridges… :frowning:

Plod should take said item away to see if there’s any DNA on it.

That’s how they caught the M3 cretin a few years back - at a later date, dropper decided to break into a car but was caught in the act, DNA taken and surprise surprise it matched the sample taken from the concrete thrown from the bridge.

Yes as a lad growing up in South Wales, I remember the sad news of the death of taxi driver David Wilkie being killed in the height of the miners strike. It was well covered by the Welsh media and 2, 21 year old lads were sentenced for this. I can also remember the sad episode of Crimewatch where the Ford lorry driver needlessly lost his life also. To my knowledge both victims were true family men, loved and mourned by many for mindless acts where people are oblivious to the severity of what they do at the time. Glad to see today was not another repeat of this…

Reminds me of this story where some scum dropped what’s laughably called a breeze block onto the A45.
In another report of that story (which i can’t find) it says that it took both of them to lift this ‘breeze block’ that weighed 20+kg, making it more of a kerb stone than a breeze block (ave 100g or so).
This version mentions the item hitting the driver in the chest, killing him instantly.
3 years was the sentence. :unamused:

One of my drivers had some kids lob a stone straight through the sunroof of one of my Stralis, I was obviously ■■■■■■ off, but also impressed at their accuracy. That particular lorry was a bit of a jinx for broken glass, I had a little scroat bust the windscreen with a stone on the A13 and a pheasant took out the screen and the corner of the sun visor on the M25 one Saturday as I went to Ross on Wye, ironic as I had been shooting on the Thursday and had bagged a good few of his cousins, karma’s a ■■■■■…
