Cheers, Pete. Nicht meine Ecke but good to know

At least the Germans recognise the need for more and bigger parking area’s.

I see a lot of places in Germany that are extending not only service area parking, but lay-by’s too.
There’s a new one nearly ready on the A40 between Moers and Venlo, there’s a new Autohof opened up next to the A2 near Rheda-Wiedenbruck and I think they are extending the parking at Auetal Sud on the A2.

At least the Maut gets used for something that’s needed.

Yep, the Germans have been increasing parking capacity for trucks at Autobahn service stations and parking areas for about a year now right across the country, in response to the chronic truck parking problem.

Compare this to the UK, where the parking capacity at motorway service stations is abysmal, with the vast majority of service stations with the same pathetic capacity as the day they opened back when Twiggy was a lass. At a lot of sites, the truck parking areas have actually reduced in size, as space is hived off for cowboy pallet and washing operations :imp: :imp:

And don’t get me started on having to actually PAY for the privilege…

Who won the war, etc… :imp: :imp: :imp:
